What are you giving up for Duchene in this scenario? - Ottawa Fan
who knows at this point Sakic is way over valuing Duchene.
I've said before I think Ceci, Dzingle and a 1st at least get the conversation started. you could also throw Lazar in there (although I think some time in the minors to get him back to scoring shape would do him some good)

I don't think that package would come close.
Hypothetical, if a team offered a package like that for Stone or Hoffman, I wouldn't do it
Draft this year is weak, so the first rounder doesn't have much value. Ceci has promise, but would anyone be surprised if he turned into Wiercioch in 2 years?

I've never said that gets the deal done, I do think it gets the conversation started though.
I wonder how many times we have to lose for our GM to finally start doing something useful?
Guys , I'm glad to read us talking about Duchene & Landeskog.
Here's the way I look at it: Lazar is going to be moved and likely not an Ottawa Senator come Sept 1 - and I believe way before then. Possibly it's trade deadline time.
Duchene - top line player. Colin White or Thomas Chabot are a given, then you add a Lazar or Dzingel, then you add that 1st pick.

Landeskog - tricky. Think his value has dropped over time. Still good. Think giving a Chabot or White is very tough. Wouldn't pay much more (if that)
Packages: (Lazar, Dzingel, 1st) (Lazar, Ceci)
*Get Beauchemin coming too if it's Ceci gone. Played with Phaneuf in TOR - AlfieisKing
I wouldn't trade Chabot straight up for Duchene, that's a crazy proposal. Duchene is barely an upgrade over the 2 centers we have right now....and in fact I think turris is a better player (slightly less offense but a much stronger overall game). we're trading our best prospect for a player that we don't need and who isnt' an upgrade over what we currently have.........that's crazy.
as for your landeskog proposals......I'd do either of those deals in a heartbeat, which makes me think that Colorado wouldn't even consider it.

You don't want Beauchimin. Doesn't play well in markets where there the team is front and center. Great in Anaheim and Colorado, horrible in Montreal and Toronto.
Stop with the big trade stuff. Your team is not close enough to being a Stanley Cup contender. Ottawa is like 8 other teams in the conference, might make the playoffs, might not. but are not close to Wash, Pitt, NYR.
Landeskog is other reputation player, based on early promise. Hurt a lot and very inconsistent. Same for Duchesne. If you actually watch these guys play when they are not playing the Sens you would know this. If they are so young and great why is Colorado shopping them?
Colorado's price is just too high, they obviously have no interest in trading Duchesne.
While Edmonton got hosed in the deal, the Hall trade sets a benchmark for Duchesne's value.
So, a 2-3 defenseman + a 1st, or top prospect is what the market should be. - SensnRBs
I think Sakic is trying to hit a homerun with Duchesne and Landeskog and then begin a rebuild. If not, he will carry on with both and revisit trades when there is less term on their contracts with both. Joe's first mistake was not listening to Roy. Despite the dip in Roys second year with the Av's, he had the players ear.

I don't think you can use the hall trade as a benchmark for Duchene for the following reasons:
1. it was an offseason deal, and a "hockey trade" meaning it wasn't one team going for it and one team rebuilding.
2. it was pete chiarilli......the guy is unquestionably one of the 2-3 worst GMs in the league when it comes to trading. I don't think any GM uses him as a benchmark, I think they use him as a whipping boy.

Another beautiful day in Ottawa. Here's a little video to brighten things up.
Try not to puke in your mouth.

you know ...... that was awesome. Brings me back to when I cheered for the Leafs (mid-70s to early 90s)...... and the pucks to the face of the pre-mask goalies OUCH.
Part of me would love to see another parade down Young St. ....... but then I think about what life would be like if Leaf Nation could ever say they won a cup
I say that with the understanding that Leaf Nation is comprised of people born after 1967.....
