True but look at where the Oilers are compared to the Devils. Oilers are having one of their best seasons in a long time. Devils are not that great. Makes you think - kasperrko
Larsson has been rock solid. |

And did anybody expect this by getting Larsson? |

And people thought Larsson wouldn't get Hall. This trade wouldn't be a talent for talent trade. Cause if so, we wouldn't get Ellis. MAYBE we'd have to throw in a pick. - bgainesDM
Oil had a surplus of high end forwards from which to deal and everybody knew it, nobody was going to do the Oilers a favor. We desperately NEEDED defense and we paid for it.
Nashville doesn't desperately NEED more forwards. Especially not forwards who (sorry to say) still have a lot of questions marks about them. Right now the Isles would have to overpay to get Ellis, not the other way around. |

Maybe Ciha knew what he needed and went out and got it. Seems to have worked out thats for sure. Always makes me laugh when people ( hockey experts on HB) say he's stupid blah blah blah and ridicule a trade made by him mean while he won a SC as a GM and thats something you don't step in shat in and win. |

But your team is winning with Larsson. Is Larsson a top pair dman in a team like Chicago? No. Same for Ellis. Maybe you'd have to throw in 1 more piece to get him. |

I knew they would improve, yes.
I've watched a lot of Devils hockey these last 5 years, mostly because I wanted watch defensively responsible hockey for once. I saw a lot of Larsson and he was far and away my favorite Devil. As such I was pretty much the only Oil fan in these parts that was totally cool with the trade initially. |

Ladd was hurt but Cappy never sat him. You can tell he was hurt. Doug, unlike Cappy actually had the balls to give his vet a break to heal himself. - bgainesDM
What gave you the insight he was hurt? You his masseuse? Because no one else knew.
Well maybe he"s hurt again and should sit once more because the last 3 games he has 0 points and is a minus 4. I think it's time to ice the Vag again.
Maybe he's tired and should play 3 games and then sit 3 games |

No. But he arguably would be on the Sabres, Canes, Devils, Stars, Wings, Flyers, Coyotes, Leafs and Canucks.
You want Ellis for Strome then you'd probably have to add a 2nd rounder (or better) and a solid prospect. Nashville isn't desperate. |

Good for Doug, because they were smoked in a huge if not the biggest game of the season so far. If it looks like shat smells like shat and tastes like shat, then call it shat.

I'm not sure if Doug is the long term answer, but he is much better than Cappy and sounds much more like a real coach. - ses111
I just like the fact he's calling like it is. they sucked got their asses kicked done.
gotta respect it. Who knows if Weight even wants the Coaching job after this season? |

I think Isles reached out last minute to Frans. Garth seemed to waste a lot of time with the Stamkos pipedream. Garth needed to get that wing during the draft and then he would have had time to wrap up things with Frans. - ses111
Friedman said on dan and noels podcast that garth was prepared to go all in for stamkos to give us a 1 2 punch like pens or hawks. When it failed he was left with his Richard in his hand, I wonder if Frans was a guy that didnt like the cappy style of coaching. He said he wanted to see what else was out there and to me this meshes with what gallof said. Also to wait until the last second to your longest tenured forward and best all around player is a slap in the face. |

The middle six forwards, unlike last year, have been picking up the slack. You want a 1-2 punch like the Pens or Hawks. Should've started tanking in 2008, not 2009. |
