I give Frans a hard time, but Isles should have traded for that wing for JT and re-signed Frans and Garth could have basically called it a summer.

Can't do that if he turned down more $ from us.

Remember Zach Parise going to the Wild? Devils had the money too.
- bgainesDM

If i remember correctly, No they didnt bc they invested into Kovulchuk and owner had $$$ issues and all that good stuff.....

I think Isles reached out last minute to Frans. Garth seemed to waste a lot of time with the Stamkos pipedream. Garth needed to get that wing during the draft and then he would have had time to wrap up things with Frans.

A player does not think like a fan. Some players want a change of scenery. Doesn't mean their current situation is bad though. You think Detroit is projected to be relevant over the next 4 years? lol They're laughable.
- bgainesDM

Well I guess that is how bad things were here for Frans. IT was so bad he went to a worse team

That's what the conversation I had him last night was. He wanted Ellis for Strome. I told him that ain't happening. While Strome's value may have escalated a bit lately, it's no where near the point of getting a top 4, right handed D-man in return straight up. Although I do have to say that I liked Stromer dropping the mitts last night. To paraphrase Reg Dunlop, "He's just scrappin". He also seems to be gaining some confidence.

Again, that's you putting your opinion into his. I gotta go by what the player said. No fan speculation. No disrespect.

Again, it's not about talent for talent when it comes to trades. It comes to what piece fits best and helps that team succeed the most. You don't think Strome would help that offense quite a bit? Ellis' numbers are very similar to Leddy's and would fit perfectly. I don't understand the issue on how this trade wouldn't work for both sides? People raised their eyebrows with the Larsson for Hall and people thought it was a dumb trade for Edmonton and that they could've gotten more. Nope, with Larsson they're a lot more settled in defensively and he fits perfectly in the top pair.

To make that trade they'd need to see strome help our offense firat

Keep laughing. People laughed at the Hall for Larsson trade initially.

8 points in 12 games under a better coaching system(and still not as good as Peter's btw) isn't helping out our offense?

PPL laughed bc most thought Oilers would get MORE for a top 5 LW in game, Strome is not remotely top 100 C in game

Thats a big difference

He's had a 50 point season before. He was misused for the last year in a half.

7 is going to want to give me a hug after the way I've defended Frans today.

Honestly they miss his faceoffs and defense this year.

Then I guess you haven't been watching Frans this year.
Btw, we offered him more $ actually than Detroit. Frans said he wanted a change of scenery. That's his fault.

- bgainesDM

Really its his fault? The GM of the Islanders wanted him but didn't make it a point to start negotiations to sign him until Frans decided to get out of dodge and thats Frans fault? OK Maybe Garf Bag should have paid attention to signing the assists he had instead of being jerked off by the Stamkos camp and Frans wouldn't have left.

BTW as far as points Frans is on his way to another typical year of ~ 50 points.

Also Im sure Frans is happy and being treated very well up in Hockey Town USA.

Yes but that doesnt merit a top 4 dmen when he's had 2 horrible yrs after, regardless of being misused or not.. U dont trade value on assumption

Arguably so. And so was Yakupov. Just saying.

I'd say Strome is probably worth a high 2nd rounder as of now. Perhaps his value increases before the deadline, but he won't get you an Ellis.

Frans is projected to reach 42-46 points. That trend will continue to go downward. Glad we didn't keep him.

Strome has all the tools, but needs to get his head out of his ass and play smart hockey which he is doing a bit of the pst 5 games or so.

As far as Im concerned he isn't an NHL Center at this point.

True but look at where the Oilers are compared to the Devils. Oilers are having one of their best seasons in a long time. Devils are not that great. Makes you think

And people thought Larsson wouldn't get Hall. This trade wouldn't be a talent for talent trade. Cause if so, we wouldn't get Ellis. MAYBE we'd have to throw in a pick.
