Awake and absolutely full of shat with 90% of what they're reporting. News has become unwatchable at this point.

Awake and useless. Hold both sides accountable and stop giving one side a pass.

If Garth had any smarts he would have been all over guys like Trotz and Lavy when they were available instead of protecting his buddy Ernie. We would not have to worry about unproven coaches. Dineen would be one of my top choices. Matvichuk I do not know a lot about his coaching, but he seems to have promise.

I still do not think we were going to get Trotz. Laviolette, I would've loved to have back. And yes I do consider him a top 3 coach in this NHL right now. Fight me!
But who's to say Snow didn't reach out. Lots of other GM's reached out too. It's up to the coach based on location, , stability, and no income tax(why Lavy probably loves Nashville right now ;-) )

No way you are getting Trotz or anyone else if you do not try. I would be beyond shocked if Garth tried for Trotz or Lavy. It's not Garth's MO.

Easily, Snow wouldnt have asked permission to speak w/Galant if it wasnt up to the owners forcing the issue, its called Garf loyalty.......

It was most likely Ledecky that fired Cappy. I'll never believe Garth wanted it.

Ok with that said what do you think goes on behind close doors with Snow??
- kasperrko

I don't know. I can't assume he does this or that though. What I can assume is he did have a loyalty issue with keeping Capuano. Because here's the thing, he's a very crafty drafter, and knows when to let go of people. And his replacement plan hasn't really been as bad. He just needed a coach bring it all out. We as fans should hope that loyalty doesn't come into play here again.

As a fan, I don't even want Gallant. He's not an x's and o's type of coach.

We had 2 stinkers against Ottawa and Toronto(3rd period) and all of a sudden it's over now?
- bgainesDM

You are missing my point.. why did they stop doing what was needed for years and clearly was working. Why are we back to the idiocy? This team has enough talent to win right now if they play the game the way it is supposed to be played. I am not saying anything is over... I just want them to get back to doing what they are supposed to do.. Stop effing around with the puck in your own end like you are the friggin globe trotters of Hockey. flashy in your own end is not going to fly in the NHL... Get the friggin puck OUT OF THE ZONE!!

Snow will never trade these guys. Most of these guys if not all of them are guys he drafted or grabbed with picks. Snow needs to stop being a best buddy and be a GM and make some trades to make this team better. To me the Islanders have regressed this year but it could have been a year where they get to that next level. He has failed in my mind as a GM and until he is gone so will this team

I cannot know 100%, but I know Garth's track record. Cappy basically threw Garth under the bus in a post game earlier in the season and Garth still did not fire him.

That's why I cited loyalty as his issue. Hopefully he corrects it.

Usually when fans say "back to Cappy hockey," they usually imply that. If not, my bad.
- bgainesDM

I am one of the people that truly believes this team can win if they play right. I would kill to see an upgrade like Duchene at the deadline and don't understand how we are not playing Pulock... but solid goal tending, solid defense and talented forwards playing the right way can make a very deep run.

Amen! This team has enough offensive talent to win. They need to stop with the back passing in their own zone and stop with the passing right in front of their own net.

Dude in on sentence you say Garf held on to Crappy to long and then say he knows when to let go of people? Really?

And his replacement plan was an absolute joke. He hasn't come close to replacing the points that walked out the door never mind the the intangibles that left with with said players.

It also depends on how the market works. Availability has sucked over the last 2 years at the trade deadline. Nobody really made a trade during the deadline that really knocked your socks off. I'll cite what I said earlier, I would really love it if we trade Strome for Ellis.

We've seen teams with far less talent go on longer runs than the Isles. I'd love another impact forward on the Isles, but this is not a team with a serious lack of talent.

People = Players. I should've been more specific. Chimera and Ladd are both projected to reach 20 goals this year. The loss of Frans hasn't been too bad considering when you look at how mediocre he looks in Detroit. I don't want to hear "oh, that's cause he's on a bad team." Last time I checked, Taylor Hall is still being Taylor Hall in a mediocre Devils squad. A team doesn't dictate individual forward performance.

Sorry but thats not even close to fair value, once again top 4 dmen hold great value.... Strome is NOT valuable ......

Depends on who's coaching the player though. Strome has really been trending upward and could break 40 points under Weight. It takes a coach to maximize player potential. Cappy wasn't doing that for Strome. You mean to tell me you don't think Peter Laviolette could coach him into being a 55+ point player?

You are absolutely correct. STrome will get us maybe a bag of pucks at this point. He has no value at all. Or basically you trade Strome to another club for a struggling player. I dont even know why we are discussing him though Snow will never trade him

Nope!!! What makes you to assume that he can make him into that player. The only person who can make Strome a 55 point guy is Strome himself. Until he believes in himself and plays at the level he know he can play at then he can be that guy until then nope
