I'm not 2 nice they did chances and the goalie played well they hit the post 2x and crossbar. I said third was an abortion. This is the problem on here they AREN'T gone to win every game and whether it was 1 0 or 7 1 it's still a loss in a big game, it happens move on
- Upstate_isles

Agreed but if they lose 2-1 you say wow they really could have won, tight game etc.
they gave up 7 goals in a game that was like a PO game. Not pretty and not how you want your team to compete in a game like that imho.
True you forget it and move on but last nights game exposed the Islanders and they were embarrassed by a team ready to win that game. And made sure they did.

Yep! Fire Garth. I do not care if JT likes him or Wang gave him a 100 year contract. Get this president hired as soon as the season ends.
- ses111

I think this happens in the offseason almost certainly. I think they hire their president rather quickly, then HE cans Snow. At that point, he hires a new GM. Dougie Weights' tenure as coach depends on how this season ends, but a new voice with a ton of experience would be the way to go, obviously.

By the way, of COURSE Matt Martin scored last night.

I can accept a loss, but the Isles did not compete in a big game. Isles cannot have games like last night after the lousy start. No excuses.

I think it is mostly coaching 7, but these Isles forwards seem to have a lack of desire as well. Look at the lack of desire to pay a price like Lee does. I really like JT, but he needs to set the example for forwards playing D and going hard to the net. JT seems to be very quite and not a vocal leader.
- ses111

I never question JTs desire. Guy works his ass off and wants to win and his leadership is by example and not rah rah speeches. Lee is being rewarded for his play no doubt.
Again defensive play in your own zone is a unit of five and if your all not on the same page it just doesn't work imho.

In the game versus Detroit they asked frans what the hardest part of playing against jT was and he said it's that he goes to the net harder than almost any guy in the league and most people say that about him, his D could use work, but he does drive the net hard

I agree about JT driving the net. I want JT to get on guys like Nelson to do the same. JT's D could use a lot of work.

Let's hope they take something from it like desire and being ready to play

I do think JT has desire. I have to be honest though I like the rah raj type captains. It's true the Isles do not seem to be on the same page regarding defensive play. They still seem to be playing the Cappy D.

Its also very difficult to separate him from the puck. I think it is one of those things that gets overlooked. I love watching him with the puck down low changing directions back and forth looking for an opening. It must frustrate the hell out of the defensive player.

Well next game is against the Rags at home after you just got embarrassed. I'm hoping they will come out hard but who knows. That said will they win?

Nelson with his size should not be a strictly perimeter player. He needs to grow a pair and play with passion or he needs to be traded. Strome at least brings the passion. I like Beau's game and he should only get better. Ladd needs to bring more. Chimera is playing better. Guys like Price and Quine are bottom pair or extra forward types.

Rangers can score like Toronto.......no idea how it will play out as one would expect a pissed off isles team and all games between the 2 are good.

the way I see it is that GArth will never get rod of any of his babies. He might trade some draft picks but that is all. He needs to get canned after this season regardless of what happens so that we can grab a GM who does not care for any player we have. Problem is I beleive Garth got to close to these guys which is a big no no. In order for us to advance and take that next step Garth needs to go

He is like Crosby in that regard can really shield the puck and is very strong on it. That's what makes him a top player that ability to create space control the play down low and create plays out of nothing, it's almost like a qb scrambling, someone gets open eventually and he finds them

From ur not me
http://islesbeat.com/2017...k-capuano-and-garth-snow/

Here's the part though
Loyalty played a factor here, and the fact that Garth Snow is far too much a team guy, as a former player. Sometimes you need cold hard calculations. They need to buy-in to the cold hard analytics to show how it matches the team trajectory

First fire the poophead GM and then let's get a real coach as well

The sooner the better. Then get rid of the whole coaching staff.

Yes they need to implore a new "system" with new coaches. This team can get to that next step with the right direction.

Seindenburg is a traffic cone.

Can we win one big face off? Everytime you have a face off on an icing, PP or PK we don't just lose it we lost it Clean... drives me nuts.

We have gotten back to failing to clear the defensive zone first and foremost.. drives me friggin nuts. Basic effing hockey... make sure you get it out of the zone..
goal 1 Pelech.. WTF
goal 2- what is Hickey doing.. pick up the man don't sit there staring at your goalie
Goal 4 deHaan swing and a miss on a pk
goal 5 picks it off Brock at the blue line.. through boychuk legs..
goal 6 Stolen inside the blue line again on Casey....

5 of those goals should have been cleared out of the zone if this team acted responsibly

I've never watched such little hockey as I have this season partially bcs I'm busy as shat and partially due to not being able to stomach this team any longer with Snow at the helm. I finally put aside some time to watch them last night and was gift wrapped that pile of dog shat. Any game I've watched this season it's the same thing. Cizikas is invisible along with Ladd. Hickey is an absolute abortion in our end and the neutral zone. Most of the forwards have not a clue what defense means and are terrible in the neutral zone and not one (frank)ing player on the team has a care in the world. It's like they're watching the clock counting the minutes.
I've been a fan since the 70's and have pretty much never missed a game since then I don't know how anyone can watch this crap consistently? It makes me sick looking at this pile of shat knowing this is what Snow has built in over 10 yrs of rebuilding. Absolute joke
