PP has been over 25% since he became interm coach.
I'd like to see us get involved with trades with the Predators. They have a lot of depth on defense that could compliment our style of play. They need offense. I like Ekholm and Ellis. Problem is, Subban and Josi are what's preventing them from getting top pair opportunities.
Talent for talent is not how you make trades to teams that aren't rebuilding. Trades that make your team improved going forward are what work in scenarios like this. Nashville needs quite a bit of offense though.

Now we need defense? Last week you were trading Hamonic, Nelson, Barzal, a first and a second for Matt duchene

I believe he was saying you can't trade Hammer because he has no value. He's oft injured and isn't a top pair D-man. He does seem to bounce around a little on team needs/wants.
After watching last nights game, it's obvious that they're just a couple parts away from being a contender. Those parts, imo, are defense, offense, goaltending, special teams, coaching, GM & a PoHO.
While they have looked better under Weight, it looked like Crappy was behind the bench last night. No answer for anything the Leafs did.

So you're saying they need everything?
Amazing what Snow has accomplished in over a decade. How does this guy still have a job?

They need a coach with a plan for the defensive zone, they have d up and in ahl. Greiss numbers bear out him being a starter and they can score. What they can't do is get it all together at the same time, Pk is OK but the pp is all mess although slightly better of late. I'd take a second like center but mainly a real coach, the new poho even if he hires a new gm is gonna have to unravel what snow has done to work around the cap.

Weight and the team failed a big test last night. I think Weight has done a decent job, but he probably gets no help from Cronin as a defensive coach. I'm willing to see how this season plays out, but I'm thinking we need a coach with a real defensive play. I hope we get a new GM and Garth does not stay on because JT likes him or Wang gave him a crazy contract.

They failed but bad games happen to every team, teams get killed in playoffs and bounce back unless it's a no show game 7 like isles had vs caps and a few years back pens did vs flyers. If they come out flat vs rags I'll be concerned, if leafs lose tonight and we win it's back to a point.

Lets face the truth the ISlanders were never in on Julien. They just say this so the fans will say well at least we tried. The story is getting old with that nonsense. Until Snow is gone they will never be any discussion of a big time coach or player

Julien was on the radar? Why not be proactive and at least try to speak to the guy? Sorry Staple people are sick of talk and no action. I'd rather not even hear of, "well yeah we thought about it" it screams of arrogance or even laziness. As far as Cizikas doing whatever it takes to win I must have missed that last night guy was (frank)ing invisible as he's been much of this year. Great contract.
- Cptmjl

He was on the radar alright and that's where it ends. He wasn't coming to this poop show, the guy had his pick of the available teams looking without question. and we weren't one of them.

Oh stop they were still assessing his value as for bdGaines there I'd say it's harder to land a top 2 d man than a scoring forward. Top d men are burns weber letang subban Sutter Karrelson doughty eckman Larsson hedman jossi Faulk Keith piterangelo and Seabrook and what's his name in calgary of giodono

Tomorrow night is basically a "must win". Team needs to rebound after a bad loss/letdown and desperately needs the points after falling three behind in the race.

The team defense has been atrocious in these games against the leafs. What type of defense are they employing!? Let's just call it "The Capuano".

I truely feel Snows reign is coming to an end once the Islanders are eliminated from the POs. I don't think L and M will let him make a significant trade at the deadline either. This is your team Snow and you will live and die based on its results.

Last nights game showed that one coach analyzed the last game they played against each other and came up with a game plan based on that and the other couldn't compete with him.

Who the hell are we trading for this magical top 4 d man? I'm sticking to we have talent in the system and we need to develop it properly. There is a surplus so if you can move some of it a forward then do so. I think the defense will be OK I think we have seen mistakes from peLach but that's part of a rookie learning curve and you live with those mistakes as he has talent. The biggest need is a head coach with a plan. He's Brian erni for you captain't

He who hesitates is lost, as the saying goes. Julien and the Islanders just weren't meant to be, but there's a silver lining here. Because let's face it, Julien was never going to come to the Islanders if the Canadiens were an option. It's the perfect landing spot for him, and I applaud the Atlantic-leading Habs for just throwing all caution to the wind to go and get their man.

So if the Isles want to bring in a brand name coach for next season, they'll have to turn elsewhere. Julien was certainly an attractive option, but there will be others. And who knows? With the way things have turned around under Doug Weight, maybe the interim guy could just be the next big thing they've always been searching for

Not sold on this idea for once let's get a proven coach

Lack of forwards that can play defense kills this team. Also outside of Lee, who scores the tough goals? Teams score against the Isles all the time by crashing the net and paying the price.

Part of this is true however they did have a lot of chances in 1st 2 periods Anderson played well. The 3rd period was an abortion

Well they read that he was going to take time off and make a decision after the season ended. So why be proactive and reach out to him, he was going to contact all the teams in the off season. So Snow was waiting for his call.
Just like Stamkos, Frans Neilson and hopefully not JT, our GM is totally out of touch with what's going on out there, he's in over his head and manipulated by agents other GMs and players, it time for him to get canned and bring some credibility to this franchise instead of being a laughing stock.

Your too nice, take the blue and orange shaded glasses off U_S the score was 7-1 in the biggest statement game of the year. Greiss made stops and the Leafs hit posts etc.
the end result says it all, again 7-1.
Last time they played the Islanders scored 6 on Toronto. They were the better team last night hands down imho.

I'm not 2 nice they did have chances and the goalie played well they hit the post 2x and crossbar. I said third was an abortion. This is the problem on here they AREN'T gone to win every game and whether it was 1 0 or 7 1 it's still a loss in a big game, it happens move on. All teams eat poop some games sucks it happened when it did you'd like to see more effort but it just didn't haopen

I think the whole aspect of forwards playing defensively sound hockey Ses has a ton to do with the system in place by the coach and also buying into said system and then the final piece is the desire to be good defensively and make that system work.
I have said it befor just look at what Trotz has done with the Caps let alone OV.
The culture has totally changed in Washington and it started with the coach imho.

I think it is mostly coaching 7, but these Isles forwards seem to have a lack of desire as well. Look at the lack of desire to pay a price like Lee does. I really like JT, but he needs to set the example for forwards playing D and going hard to the net. JT seems to be very quite and not a vocal leader.
