You have to admit that BB turned it up every year during the playoffs. That was what made watching him during the regular season almost tolerable. |

I would have no problem with Brian Boyle back on the team, but he hardly seems like a necessity right now with Pirri and Puempel unable to get in the lineup as it is |

Hayes was lazy last year though.. Hence the slump. Overweight and lazy.
I'm one of Hayes biggest fans, but if you can't admit the truth you pretty much have turned into a fan boy, and shouldn't be taken seriously with anything you write. - mdw7413

Tampa and Rangers, both really good teams the last 5 years or so, didn't win it all
perception was the Lightning were still on their way up
perception was the Rangers were on their way down
Lightning on the verge of being sellers and bailing on season, Rangers one of best teams in league. - jimbro83

I don't think Pirri or Puempel come close to Boyle in terms of his defensive play and playoff experience. Would u feel comfortable putting Lindberg Boyle Fast out there against Crosby/OV/Malkin in game 7? I would. Would u feel comfortable putting Pirri Lindberg Fast? I wouldn't. When he was with the Rangers he was our go to late in games, 5 on 3 I don't think there's anyone better. |

I would trade either one for him straight up. (Not that TB would take it).
Problem with P&P is their skills don't differentiate them form the guys ahead of them on the depth chart. Boyles' skill set (PK, Defense, faceoffs, can take multiple beating in a single game, etc) does. |

Well thats just it, we are fans just posting on a message board. We have no rules but if you are a writer for a publication and you want to be taken seriously might want to stop being a fan and write honestly.
I think Jan is good like that. I don't always agree with him, but no one can accuse Jans "writing" of being like a fan boy, even though we know he is a huge Rangers fan, he separates the writing from the rooting. |

He is slower than Girardi in glue, and he makes Stepan look like our tough guy. |

I think in many ways, Boyle is the prototypical 4th line center. He can score between somewhere in the mid-teen in goals every year, is good defensively and on the PK, and plays his best hockey in the playoffs.
If you acquire Boyle, that means its going to be him, Fast and one of the other three (Lindberg, Puempel and Pirri) on the fourth line, and unless you totally frank it all to hell, acquire someone like Doan, and construct an entirely new fourth line. This also doesn't consider the fact that we have 10 top 9 forwards (as Grabner the guy they acquired to play fourth line, really doesn't belong there anymore).
The thought of acquiring more forwards, as much as I wouldn't mind a more traditional 4C, just confuses me.

He's one of my favorite Rangers but he's not a 4th line guy. No place for him right now except the 4th line but for the playoffs I think having him on that line might hurt us. Anyone gets hurt he slots in for them, but how much do you think AV would be playing him in a 1 goal game/tie in the playoffs? He's a high skill player but not known for his defense. Unless u put him in instead of Lindberg. |

Yup. Especially a Boyle. At least if its a forward can it be someone with leadership and has won a cup and can keep up with the team.
The 4th line looks like it is starting to come together lately too. Fast and Lindberg seem to be clicking. |
