Referring more to this year than anything else but if you put the right spin on it you can set lower expectations and still get fans to buy in. If nothing else this is why it appears the leafs look so much "better" or "ahead". Leafs were in a playoff spot when babcock came out and tempered expectations.

Murray going on the radio and saying "if we got an extra win every month we'd be in the playoffs" was not smart at all. If he comes in and dials back expectations i bet more people buy in anyways. Instead a lot of people came into the season thinking hey we made a 20 something point jump last year i bet an extra 10 will be a piece of cake.
