Well Columbus got Seth Jones for for Johansen. Duchene is better than Johansen and Jones probably has as much value as Brodie or Hamilton. If Colorado can't get a player of that quality, they shouldn't be trading Duchene.

Not a chance would I get rid of Brody!! Or Hamilton!! The avs and oilers are prime examples of how not to build a team forwords out!! Goalie,defence, center. Then fill in the gaps. Unless you got a mcdavid or Mathews who happen to be wingers. Other then that start from the backend.

I'm on the keep Brodie train. Buut... If BT had a plan in place for the expansion draft to trade a defenseman that won't get protected AND followed that up by signing Alzner?

And before the "thats a terrible idea, BT should play it safe" folks roll around: GFY, no one actually wants to trade Brodie. The guy is a beast and on an amazing contract. It's fun to talk about the options a GM has.

Fox, a 1st and a roster player (should've specified that it'd be a younger dman). That would be my starting offer (if Sakic really is at the Beanpot to scout Fox/Hickey). I probably wouldn't go much higher for a 2nd liner. I think some people are looking at his draft position and thinking the guy is better than he is.

When this was brought up a few weeks ago I was thinking we'd most likely have to give 1 of (Kulak, Tspoon, JJ), a 1st and a blue chip d prospect (Kylington, Fat Rass). I'd maybe be willing to give up Kylington and Kulak with the 1st.

Anything more than that and I'd walk. I like the guy but he (and Duchene for that matter) aren't worth what people seem to think they are. If some other GM wants to throw the farm at Colorado they can be my guest.


Also, I heard GG saying he was pleasantly surprised with how well practice went. He even noted that quite a few players were working out over the weekend. So hopefully that means they're ready to come out and take care of business

Duchene over Johansen is debatable at best. Personally I'd lean towards Johansen. He's younger, bigger, and plays a little more of a complete game (they can both be defensive liabilities).

They produce at similar rates even though Duchene (much like our friends to the North) has had the fortune of playing with some talented linemates during his career (Stastny, O'Reilly, Mackinnon, Landeskog). Johansen was relied upon to provide much of the offence in Columbus.

Jones has pedigree, but he really hasn't done (frank) all yet at the NHL level. At the time of that trade he was just a really good prospect who looked like he might pan out to being a good top pairing dman some day.

In my opinion flashy prospect does not hold the same trade value as established top pairing dman.

Hamilton I get but Im not sure what you think Brodie does that makes him not worth trading for Duchene.

Fox & Hickey could definitely be of interest for Sakic. I wouldn't count out Treliving being interested in Landeskog. The price should be lower and I think he could be a really good linemate for Bennett (or even on the top line with Johnny and Money).
