And as far as I am concerned trading Brandon Saad for Artem Anisimov one for one is a steal. AA is a 200 foot involved big guy and in the past months has been so good with all the little things. You don't have to score help your team dominate and frustrate.

Darling will not resign with us unless we trade Crawford before the EXP draft which the return would be almost nothing. But I would still do it, the market will be flooded with Goalies. Darling is no longer a RFA he is UFA. no idea how bad Gilbert is but it only costs the caps $170K Vs the Cap and guards against injuries. They owe no compensation unless he plays 1/2 the games and they goto Conf final. The hawks should find a Few vets that are fringe NHL guys and sign them to Fully guaranteed contracts and tell them they are slated to start in Rockford and will get called up if needed. 1 mil is pretty good money for a fringe NHL player

Crow to Calgary for Elliot, sign Darls, expose Elliot.

EDIT: I'm dumb, Elliot is UFA next year.

My seven rounds are up on draft site.com and I have most assuredly written MORE about my top 31 than the hockey news has.
It is a draft that is loaded with players that are equal in that they all haven't progressed enough to guarantee themselves reason to select them in slots in the mid first round all the way to the mid fourth round....plenty of warts on the kids but the right scouting staff might get lucky and although I have to assume every team would take Patrick first I can't overlook Hischier because he is so offensively quick. I like Kole Lind for the hawks.
He is a scorer and is still developing but he is sneaky good.

Wiz, thanks for the link. I just looked through it, and wonder why you have them picking mostly RW? Is there a reason for that?

Wouldn't work, they'd have to resign Elliot as well as he's an UFA at the end of the season. I'm sure he'd want a raise from his 2.5M cap hit.

Darling at 3.3M
Elliot at 2.7M (for sake of argument)
only saves you .5M in goaltending from Crow/Darling

Probably before darft ideally, but who knows what Calgary would do, or if Crow would accept a trade to them.

Good deal for both teams.

No one knew—except maybe Bowman and the Hawk pro scouts—Anisimov would be as productive offensively and support play with top offensive players like he has.

I don't think, conversely, Columbus would return Saad for Anisimov.

Everyone should check this out. In hindsight, Wiz' capsules and projections are eerily accurate . . .

Hmm Tavares cannot sign anything until this summer, so at best this could be a handshake/verbal deal. Like I think he's going to stay there, but they just can't do anything legally binding yet.

Like I said, could be handshake I guess, but it's not legally binding at all. Others are saying they can't even negotiate for that type of deal until July 1st. I do think Tavares is going to stay, either way.

Here's the thing:
Right now I am ranking players and not matching players with teams past he first round.
If I started doing a match game while the point standings are still in flux I would be changing the players every day.

Gimme five minutes and I give a hawk fan look if you like

I will be there updating and looks like I may actually get some player access through the site....
My favorite draft was the one in Columbus where they took Kane, well, because the fans were newbies and with everyone of their picks I knew their choices and tired getting them SO excited about the players and the league.
I took a break the second day and my old buddy Shane Malloy was broadcasting live out in the under guts near the trading card companies, and I was back always just watching, and at first didn't recognize him because he has a shaved head...he motioned to come closer so I did, and then, from under the table he pulled a third mike headset and handed it to me and says my name and has e do a review for f the Blackhawk prospects in the system.
Anyone who has heard my voice knows it is not "radio ready" but I have never been mildly passionate or opinionated about the guys they pick and never have spouted a company line....I as usual, didn't take a breath and he and Russ Cohen were given a breather. I never heard the broadcast but I am certain they shortened it.
Other cool thing was everybody from TSN seemed to remember me, and at the time for whatever reason, Brian Burke was added to the team...I had a prejudged opinion of him, and he changed it by flat out treating me with respect, like I knew something...I guess all those years being ignored or dismissed by the home organization b/c they didn't like what I said had me doubting I was dialed into the game.
And the topper was I went to that great German restaurant there(Schmitt's?) and a former hawk defenseman was at the table next to me, Milan Tichy had taken a job as an euro scout for the Bluejackets and I was able to talk to him about their picking Voracek. It's kinda the definition of hit or miss when you think the Hawks could have drafted both PK Subban and Wayne Simmonds with the two second rounders they used on Billy Sweat and Akim Aliu...I suspect the 2017 draft is going to be one that has surprise flops and underdog prizes...

They have to start developing as many as they can....

They have struck gold with forwards but goalies are more hit and miss and time consuming

Wiz, I was not questioning anything you had in your original mock. As a fan of this team, I know the LW is the weak organizational position right now. It just surprised me that there were no LW on the board. But then again, I am only a fan.
