Concerning Montreal,I think that Bergervin will pull off a major trade at the deadline and if they don't do well, you could say good bye to him.Now back to the Hawks, the more I read about the Hawks going after this guy and that guy,I think that they are going to stand pat.The kids that are playing right now for the Hawks, are doing ok.They will gain valuable experience in the playoffs and that will be bold well for the future of this team. The only way they will know if they could hold up with the grind of the playoffs is let them play.Do we have a chance to win, sure we do.Right now,we are using all 4 lines and if we do that in the playoff, not like last year,we have a chance.Go Hawks go.

Ducks with a 1-0 regulation win in Minny which helps the Hawks. Gibson was great especially in the middle frame.

Hey let's hear it for the Ducks last night...woo hoo...

meanwhile how bout Julien going to the Habs? Bergevin feeling the heat no doubt and made the switch.

Anything new on the trade front this morning JJ...hoping Stan is able to make a couple of moves sooner than later.

I know some folks here think picking up a defenseman is more important than picking up a 1LW, while others think the 1LW is the only position Stan needs to address. While there are no games to discuss, I have a question to ponder. Do you think that getting a top 1LW will help out the defense, therefore lessening the need to get another Dman?

The question is how much of a upgrade would we be getting over either Campbell. Kempny, Tvr And how much do we have to give up? History has shown learning our d system takes time. Then how much do we have to give up? The reality is to get someone that is 100% upgrade over those guys is going to cost a ton and there is now guarantee he will fit and understand the system.

I still think a forward is a bigger possible upgrade. If you get a LW that moves either Panik or schmaltz down and then press boxes either Kero-hino or moose. There are not a lot of sellers but there are also not many buyers. Wash and Pen are not really buyers. Columbus is a young team and might want to stay the course for one more year before buying. All GM's are going to weary of buying or selling and losing assets in the EXP draft. I think the market for rentals and RFA's forwards is going to be a buyers market come the last few days of feb. If you look back the last couple years the only team that really over paid for what they got were the hawks. So if Bowman is not the drunken sailor this year will anybody else step up. my gut says no.

My question is does Dallas have any plans to resign Oduya? If not, maybe the Hawks could get him for a 3rd or 4th round pick? I would do that in a heart beat. He is the only player I can think of, that would be able to come in and contribute right away if he is healthy.

Good points KMW and Power. If they make a big move (Duchene, Landeskog, maybe Palat) up front the D will benefit. I would be fine with that. But I would be against trading some of our future (young NHLers like Forsling/Hartman/Schmaltz, high draft picks, or highly rated prospects like Debrincat) for players that are only incremental improvements over our current roster (Tatar, Hanzal, Boyle, Vanek, Nyquist).

Yes what would Dallas want for him is the question. And yes he's hurt and since he knows the system already then it'd be best to let him sit and get 100% for playoffs. I'd do it asap too but will Stan/Nill?

Good news for people wanting to bring him back. He's with Kruger et al in Mexico during the bye week and they posted a video of him, sans brace/cast etc., pulling a giant rock across the sand. So, if his ankle was a concern, may be less of an issue than we thought.

And maybe moves ref bias against the hawks (Lysiak) to Anaheim

I think the days of referee bias against the Hawks over the Lysiak incident are all in the past. It may seem otherwise (often) but give the refs a little credit; they're not still nursing a grudge--they're simply incompetent.

Campbell seems to be a smart fellow. For sure he's been pacing himself and saving what he has for the playoffs.

- BMWChiFan

Wow, really?

That's a pretty wacky theory IMO. So he's pacing himself when someone leaves tire tracks on him to the outside? Just saving himself for the playoffs?

Come on, man!

Campbell needs to be paired with Hjalmarsson, and a 7-2 reunion. Kempny TVR as pair 3 with sheltered minutes.

No, you're right, as usual. Soupy, at 38, is going all out every game in February to help the Hawks increase their 11+ point lead to make the playoffs.

He's 38. His whole game has always been based on his speed and skating ability. He has never been a great positional D-man or been particularly great in his own end. He is not simply pacing himself. His level of speed and skating ability can no longer cover up for his other deficiencies.

Campbell is making 1.5 MIL. While never a Norris candidate he plays 18min a game and tied for D lead at +11

That's not a bad value for that cost. Not many teams have a #4 dman with those numbers at that salary

The Hawks GA is top 10 in the league while not playing the boring trap game. He has helped the Hawks transition game FAR more than that mouth breather Gustafson or that sloth Svedberg they trotted out there last year

But he was fine last season? It has a lot do to with who he is paired with, as with almost all D-men.

OK, snark aside, sure, there is a "certain" humdrum element to mid to late regular season games.

But you say it yourself, he's 38. And no, there is no valid Hossa comparison beyond that arbitrary number. Campbell has lost a step, or two. Hossa really hasn't.

So to say he has some higher gear for the playoffs that will somehow negate that is just reaching. He has looked. Slow. All. Year.
