If I'm the Pens I offer up Sundqvist, Pouliot and a 1st. But I also think some teams could offer something better. But that deal gives the Lightning a new bottom 6 center when Boyle leaves (Sundqvist), a puck moving defenseman that could probably play on their 2nd pairing (Pouliot) and a late 1st round pick.

Really? Pitts is pretty deep down the middle, is Johnson really an upgrade at that price? I think Yzerman would take that in a minute if that was offered to him.

They're deep based on names alone this year, Bonino came crashing down to earth and isn't playing as well as last year. He's off the books after this season, Cullen is off the books this season, and Fehr is vanilla as hell. They are gonna need a new 3C after this season (unless they resign Bones, or think one of Guentzel, Sundqvist, etc. can slot in). I'd rather see them acquire a proven talent like Johnson... 3rd line could be Hagelin-Johnson-Kessel. Probably the fastest line in the league.

I think the Duchene return will be a pinpoint for Johnson. Very similar numbers.

Really? Duchene is, I think, younger and has broke 50 points over 70% of his seasons while Johnson has done it 25% of the time. I think Duchene gets a better return for sure if they both get moved.

What makes you say that?

His point drop between the previous 2 seasons for one reason, maybe your opinion differs. I'm not saying he's washed up, but I would bet money he never matches those career high point totals.

Totally agree but good luck to you sir. You are now going to get some stupid graphs or probably his point per game average thrown at you, the one that includes that one luck season so get ready to be proven wrong!

That's a good point I never thought like that. Duchene is a little bit better during the season, but johnson has the playoff experience. I have to agree they should receive similarly.

Well as per Friedman, Boyle is worth a 1st round pick (that's what he hears teams are offering ) so pretty sure Johnson gets more than that , he's younger better faster gets more points and is a RFA not a UFA and plays top 6 soooo yea

Maybe read better. Tampa wants a first round pick for Boyle but obviously have not got it so as of now that's not what he is worth

Agreed, if they get offered a first for Boyle they should jump on it.
