You think I have even a smidge of Love for the Leafs?

Truth is I have been following the Sabres and Leafs rebuilds to see if they learned anything from the Oilers (frank) ups. Leafs are doing a better job remaining patient, and retaining the right assets to support the young guns. I think they have done a very, very good job. Far as i can see, they are 1 key player away from being legit ( and about a year more experience,of course).

its not just about the pick, its about not paying an average d-man a lot of money. If hes up for a short term deal at a cut rate sign me up. That 2nd would give us three to work with, you can trade up, trade for nhl talent etc.

Im willing to give up kane if it gets me a guy like Theodore, Faulk etc. Kulikov isn't the same kind of top four that these guys are.

- Sabresfan-365

murray tried trading three second rounders to get back into the lower first round and it didn't work...

I understand the value of a second-rounder--mike weber was a second rounder, but so were jake McCabe and Brendan guhle...

here's the gist: people are ready to sell high on kane with many feeling that a top-four d-man would be adequate in return...Kulikov, imo, is a top-four d-man, yet a kane for Kulikov trade would be a ridiculous proposition in the eyes of many...however some would be willing to trade Kulikov for a second, which wouldn't even come close to kanes worth or probably even kulikov's worth

Yuu throw around average quite loquaciously. There are a few other D on the Sabres who are average or below average and one of them is Josh Gorges. Kuli is better than him and he's not even healthy.
- GilPerreault11

Agreed, i still don't know where youd play him. Even if you can't find a true top pairing guy its evident that they need someone better than the current group they have to play with risto on that pairing. The other 2 lefty spots are taken, think he's just a casualty of a numbers game too.

Kulikov is an above average top 4 D man?

I don't get why the Sabres aren't contenders with all the really good players we have.

You're passive aggressive. You stop by acting like you're giving us your honest, friendly opinion on a matter, but really, the underlying tone of all your comments are your team sucks, your players suck, and your city sucks.

Because its not the same thing. You're talking about a borderline top 4 guy who offers little to nothing offensively and isn't exactly a shut down guy in his own end. The names being tossed around for kane are guys with major upside. Montour, Theodore, Faulk etc. These are high impact players in at least one of those areas.

The last talent we shipped out was Miller. Since then its been a revolving door of average to mediocre guys that we assigned too high of a role/responsibility.

I'm not sure if this is news to you or not, but from what I have seen on HockeyBuzz, fans are the worst judges of trade value. Its always too little or too much.

Also, Kulikov is a top 4....but on the low end, with players like Hjarrlmarsson, Muzzin, Stralman...etc being the high end and streets ahead of Kulikov as far as value.

Kane for one of them would be a steal, but for Kulikov? You should feel a bit ripped off, and I think kane is a bum.

100% coaching duh.

Honestly thats where im at too. Bogo's a top 4 guy, i just hate him. Im too hard on kulikov hes a top 4 guy. Risto is elite.

If i didn't know better id say we have one of the better d-core's in the nhl.

Well, I don't have time to explain the game to you but having two of your best players in their second year is a start, Falk, Fedun on D Foligno on your top line, lack of scoring from your wingers, lack of scoring 5 on5, MaCabe is not a #2, Risto is nice but defensively is not a #1 yet. Franson is average, Gorges is average. Do I have to keep going on or has the light been lit in that noggin of yours?

if those players are everything you say they are, the sabres aren't getting those players for kane alone...and btw, Montour and Theodore are still very young players who happen to play on a strong team...and one more thing...Montour has played in 8 nhl games and has yet to be exposed and Theodore is a minus 12 with the same number of goals (1) as Kulikov in the same number of games (28)...and kulikov's been playing injured all season

even if kulikovs a top 4, where's his spot? you absolutely have to upgrade risto's partner so that leaves one of kulikov/mccabe playing on their weak side?

Well the first 2 are one and the same, never been to your town, so I can't say for certain aside from the espn players polls whether its a good town or not, but there are other things that for sure suck about the Sabres. Many of the fans on these threads for one are among the most unrealistic ( I read the other day so eone suggest the Sabres will squeek in the playoffs this year ).

Also, Garth.

Thank (frank)ing god someone said Muzzin is a lower-tier 4th D-Man.

Last LA Kings cup win I thought he was going to single-handedly lose the game for them, every game.

Guy plays with Doughty, or he did that Playoff year. He's s h i t e.
