i didn't even check the shot attempts, just basing it on the eye test. They didnt really establish any sort of forecheck from the 2nd period onwards and there were quite a few high quality chances given up. McCabe had to play goalie just to keep one out. That and some undisciplined play and this easily could have been a tie game by then end of regulation. It's a great win because its a win and some key players stepped up, but the overall performance?

I thought the sabres played a great first period last night


they were physical for the last 40 minutes but looked like they sat on a lead

no reason not to get an empty netter with almost 4 minutes of an open net

Of goalies that have faced over 700 shots Lehner is 4th in save percentage at .925, he's .001 behind Bobrovsky and Holtby, Dubnyk is at .934

But even if I could get over those colors,

if it was in blue & gold, I wouldn't hate it as much
But I'd still hate it

If we had done the 3rd jersey that was Red with the swords in blue & gold,
I'd have been "ok" with that as a 3rd jersey

Obviously his size helps him out quite a bit
Imagine how good he could be if he was able to work on his positioning?
Too often he overplays a situation & ends up leaving a wide open net

One reason Miller rarely made spectacular saves was bc he read the play so well & was in the right position to make the save
Hopefully Lehner can get (much) better at it

I think that'll also help him with his rebound control

They chose black and red because the chicago bulls sold the most gear out of any sports team. Completely ignoring the fact that the chicago bulls were selling all that gear because they were winning championships.
Completely changing a teams colors is stupid.

They may have blown their proverbial load in the first period and didn't have a ton left in the tank except to play a decent road game to insure the win the rest of the way. They aren't robots and the other team has a say in how well they execute as well. It is tactical, the Leafs no doubt shored up some of their line matches that were killing them in the 1st and adjusted how they defended the Sabres offense. Anyway, let's see how they do tonight.
