i think it's been worth the subscription... plus you get Toronto and any other city they may move into.

Inserting political commentary in this hockey blog, no matter how inane, is stirring the pot that doesn't need stirring at this site. I come here to talk hockey as a way of forgetting about all the political crap that invades my world. I would hope others would respect the wishes of their fellow hockey fans to restrict their posts to hockey related topics.
- EbonyRaptor

The idiot who did it comes here occasionally to jab at me with Peeps memes. It's dumb, the Trump thing was coincidental.

It's poking fun at our president which has zero to do with hockey. I couldn't care less what others think about Trump nor should they care what I think about him. But the fact is there is a very large divide between Trump opponents and proponents and therefore bringing Trump or any hot button political topic into a blog set aside for hockey is inappropriate and purposely trying to get a rise out of people.
- EbonyRaptor

That seriously wasn't the intent. See above. Relax, man.

Is it worth the yearly subscription or does the hockey coverage drop off during the off season? I am not just talking about the dog days of summer.

It's a legitimate worry. Nobody wants a political war on a forum.
- JRoenick97

Yeah, well, if that did happen, we would ban HUGELY.

See, now THAT is political commentary.
- JRoenick97

Ehhhh, correct. So busmaster, yeah, cool it. And if you fail to see the difference, after all the explaining that's been done, all the context, you are on a slippery slope.

And let me add, love him or hate him, I think we can all agree, there is an element of comedy to our 45th President—because to a degree, he intends it.

And we should let it go at that.

I haven't had it over the summer. I finally just ordered it when I kept clicking on their articles and wanting to see them. Hiring Mirtle for the Toronto division was a great addition too. I like the Leafs articles even though I don't really follow them. At the end of the day, 40 bucks is a couple nice dinners, and i get a lot of info on the Hawks prospects and great breakdowns on their systems and numbers.

Agree. I find getting decent Blackhawks coverage difficult, especially now as I am someone who no longer lives in the Chicagoland area. I was so-so on Scott Powers writing on ESPN, however it was better than nothing. Now it seems that he has more freedom to write.

Also, I enjoy their video breakdown of performance, etc.

As far as the offseason coverage, I don't think it was around last summer. They just started around the end of training camp maybe? Not sure.

Exactly. Let it be Obama and see how many folks defend that...

I'm neither an Obama or Trump supporter. That said, I don't think the job that President Obama did was that bad at all. Kept us mostly out of war, improved jobs, economy, stock market, gas prices. I mean, you are not going to please everyone...I get that. But in the game scheme of things not a bad job by him. The problem with our politics is we are looking for a president that does everything right...kind of how we want the Hawks to play every game. It's just not humanly possible to do that in the White House. If President Trump can keep us out of war, keep the economy moving, the jobless rate down....that is awesome. Not everything is perfect. Nor will it ever, ever be. I hate to say it but we have to settle for above average pretty much. Ok that is the extent of my political talk. I just want the Hawks to win tonight. And if they don't...the sun will still come up tomorrow and I will (hopefully) still be alive to converse with you fine people.

About 20 years ago there was a paper that came out that only covered all sports. I believe it was called The National. It was pretty good...but could not get enough people to buy it and eventually ran out of business. The Athletic reminds me of that in a way. Good content. I subscribed. I like it. I don't want it to fail. I hope others subscribe to so it stays in business.

Someone said wall? In Russian that means waste of money.
