How would you guys feel about moving this year's 1st as the centerpiece to a youngish #1/#2C? Aside from the top-2, it's supposedly a weak draft (which will be way overhyped come May), so if they can do a top-5 protection on it, would yo be willing to move it, assuming there's a partner? Would have to be a top-6 center under 24 for me.

Tough choice. There's a chance we end up in the bottom 5, but also a chance we make playoffs.

That's why I said top-5 protected. Would likely be an offseason deal.

Well, the first step is admitting you have a problem, right?

Here were the new lines:

* Claude Giroux centering Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds.

* Sean Couturier centering Weal and Jake Voracek.

* Nick Cousins centering Michael Raffl and Matt Read. (Read was injured while blocking a shot and left practice early.)

* Pierre-Edouard Bellemare centering Chris VandeVelde and Roman Lyubimov.

He must have been reading the thread and saw all the trade proposals being tossed around.

Can someone tell me how he is being used terribly?

He is still on the top PP, Still being asked to produce offense. The Flyers just want him to be more well rounded.

It's not like they are asking him to be a shutdown defender and stop shooting pucks.

330 OZ starts, and 151 DZ starts is 151 DZ starts too many.

Clearly, he should be at 100% OZ starts.

I just don't know enough about these draft players this year after pick 2. On paper, I see a couple of big centermen ( Vilardi 6'2 195, Rasmussen 6'5 200, Mittelstadt 6,1 201) but I have no clue if any of them have that 1C potential. I was going to add to previous answer I'd rather consider the deal day of draft.

Wiese back to a 2.6 million dollar cardboard standee?

So I hear. I never got that far. Who wants to spend $200 for Claude's charity event on Sunday at comedy club Helium? Jokes include his 5v5 production.

Absolutely, but even in a strong draft the cost of a player like that is going to be more than a top-5 protected 1st round pick, it would need to be part of a bigger package. If the 1st rounder is the biggest asset in that package I'd still probably be good with it.

I would do it.

But like you said it, the player would have to meet specific criteria. Possible top line center.

I haven't watched enough youtube highlight videos or copied any scouting reports, so I'm not an expert either.

After it was announced that Konecny would be out 4-6 weeks I seem to recall someone saying that they should call up Weal and put him on one of the top two lines. I forget who it was, but they're probably a genius.

Florida is closer to a win-now than they are to rebuilding, but they're not quite a contender. I wonder if you could make a deal for Trocheck.

Apparently Read got injured at practice, so Wiese may remain in the lineup.

Just curious. But Dallas seems to want a goalie. Would Mason be an option for them. Could you do Mason for Neimi(leave exposed in expansion draft) and Nishushkin?

Doesn't seem like much but I do like the possibility of a player like nishushkin.
