Had a top three pick last year....just poop the bed on the lotto
- Bullfrog77

Apart from McDavid and Draisatl, EDM continues to poop the bed with their drafting. To be fair, Taylor Hall is one hell of a good player, not that it really matters anymore.

Not in any way with this finite roster.
Dank is a twin but not in his brothers class anymore.
Useless on the PP.
Their heyday together is over....

If a player needs Megna or Granlund to give them a spark, and they are making 7 mil per, then the proper thing to do is retire.

You are just collecting a paycheck.

Problem is not too many people walk away from a 7 million dollar gift

I think he is referring to Jesse Puljairvi (sp?) which was a top 4 pick.

I find that the real problem with the current set up.of the draft is that all non-playoff teams have a shot at 1OA. This year a very solid team, having a bad season, can actually pick 1st. (TAMPA)
I do think this system is a little more fairer than in the past though.
Also, the points system is a little iffy. A team can be in a conference that has better quality of competition and has to play more.against them rather than only playing them twice like they would in a different conference. This clearly can affect positioning.
Certain conferences also have legitimate Cup contenders & others have 2 or so. Ie: West, Chicago, San Jose, Anaheim, Minnesota (LA if Quick returns). The east has Washington & Pittsburgh. All this affects final standings in this league of MEDIOCRITY.

I think bottom teams need high draft picks in order to get on the right path to get better, of course. I legit HATE EDM for how many years they got 1OA and were still poopty. McDavid is amazing, its hard to hate him, but as a franchise, I dislike them more than anyone else, cause it was a poopshow for soo many years in a row of them drafting high/1OA and failing year after year. One could argue that even though they drafted 1 OA soo many times, they still aren't a powerhouse team that they should be, but again, it just goes to show how poor their drafting/management was.
I know this is a conversation that doesn't really matter is nothing will change, but if EDM wins 1OA, or TOR wins 1OA I will be pissed.

- Codes1087

They both took there 1oa and are now in a playoff position...we stuck to our pride...signed some vets and are bouncing on the bottom

Hank
Does not need a spark just a winger who's a threat.
Dank
Is a waste of $7m

I see them as separate now.
I do not lump them together anymore.
THEM is time to be ended.

The comment had nothing to do with who we picked. Just that our pick was a top three...until the lotto balls (frank)ed us

As for picking D i'm down for that if BPA.
One more indicator we need to move at least 1 D for draft versatility purposes.

- Nighthawk

Never been a fan of BPA…fill your teams needs.

But I agree we do need to move 1 Dman.

The schedule is a little more balanced now too. I dont believe the Canuck Presidents trophies and the Oilers streak of 1st overall picks is much of a coincidence...

I wish this were the case. I think Nurse is good, and potentially very good. Klefbom as well.

See options 10 and 11 for the ones I mentioned
http://grantland.com/the-...strous-tanking-situation/

I like 10 goldpanning. I even like 12 more no draft! 6&7 are sort of what I was suggesting. But hey changing things now is all spit balling.

On the problem with current system in place now they noted:

....wouldn’t eliminate tanking, and it wouldn’t discourage fans from rooting against their own team to get better odds. But it would at least reduce the incentive to mount an all-out campaign to finish dead last....

Not anymore...

Carter Burrows Vrbata Hansen LE
All the above have worked out or not but 2 common denominators still exist.
The problem is WD sticking with it.
Hank as a C is serviceable but Dank is more of an anchor nowadays.
2018 we r freed up to move on & i don't see Dank playing.
Hank can continue as a 2-3 C for a lil while longer maybe.

For me, Nurse is the one with potential x-factor. Snarl and grit mixed with pretty versatile mix of skills. Playoffs written all over him. Definitely a type of d-man I would want on the Canucks.

I hearya but BPA is subjective as to where we pick & who is left.
Eg after Patrick Hirschier Liljgren Mittlestadt Valardi idc or see much separation.
I prefer a C most but not passing on Liljgren unless JB proves me wrong picking a future stud. I rank Tippet the top winger but we r deepest on RW. Sux tbh.
Trading up or down is an option or trading for another 1st somehow is an option.

BPA if you're not picking the first overall pick. https://www.google.ca/url...Dutg&ust=1486770628464347

Sorry you have to scroll a little ways down to find the chart that has tiers of the players projected to go first round.

This was also before the world juniors.

No matter what day it is or how the Nux r doing i cannot help myself seeing we need to trade D. If for a F prospect or picks idk but i want us to have versality at the draft. The more picks the better & higher better yet. Hopefully we can get another 1st & 2nd or multiple 2nds. Good F prospects also work for me.
