He did miss him but I give Gudas credit for playing smart there. A direct or softer pass cross ice would have been dangerous while shorthanded. He made sure he cleared the puck while giving Couturier somewhat of a chance.

Gudas isn't a great passer, so maybe he did that on purpose, maybe he didn't. Who knows.

But the "Coots is SOOO slow" narrative and it cost them a breakaway was BS either way. Same people also close their eyes when he generates controlled entry after entry through the NZ.
