Management. These decisions happen all the time. 50/50 Stepan is here next year. You'll see. - nyrangers9479

Stepan had his jaw broken by Prust, had a wired shut, had to basically intake all nutrition through a straw, and only missed one playoff game. The guy is tough as nails. It's not all about fighting.
And I like Domi, but right now, he isn't even half of the player Stepan is. - Pete V

We were all convinced one of Hayes, Miller or Kreider would have to be let go last season because of not enough money.
All praise the almighty Gorton and peace be upon him. - mdw7413
And I said how much of a mistake it would be to trade one of them when almost all of u bozos wanted them gone bc all 3 of them sucked and would never take the next step blah blah. Now let's see how many of u bozos try and say ooooo no notttt meee |

I'm not worried about this year. It's the 4 years of his NTC that kicks in this summer. And I think all the guys we risk losing over him have the potential to be better players.
Zib Hayes Miller Buchnevich. Vesey maybe not but haven't seen enough to make that decision. Plus we're going to have to pay a RHD. McD will be due for a raise in 2 years as well. If we keep Stepan one of Miller Hayes Zibanejad Buchnevich is gone. - nyrangers9479
All I know is every year and every off season it's always about losing so and so if we keep/sign another so and so. So far all they lost really was Hagelin and Stralman from the corp of guys...both of which we overrated when when they were here imo, albeit they were integral parts. But the point is guys can be replaced i.e.- with grabner, Stepan is much more of an asset then I think you believe him to be. They'll always find a way to keep the guys that need to be kept |

My solution is get Connor Murphy at the deadline. Trade Stepan in the offseason. |

The guy is 3 points shy of leading the team in points, is a proven playoff producer, is our #1 center, plays a key role on the power play, key role short handed, out on the ice when we're protecting a goal in the final minutes, out on the ice when we're down a goal in the final minute, is a captain, homegrown, matches up and shuts down the Crosbys, Kopitars, and Girouxs of the league and he's not worth 6.5M! Yea right
Let's trade him for (frank)in Domi a one dimensional midget sophomore because yea Domi will really fill in for Stepan for all situations. Then let's complain how we're small and soft afterwards. - rangerdanger94
Plus every team needs a player going Bald. Stepan is our bald guy |

I wouldn't say Hags or Stralman were overrated. They both had very good years heading into Free Agency and around here, we knew they would garner offers that matching would be a mistake. No one would have been happy to lose Hags if he got a reasonable salary rom Anaheim. The fact that we knew they overpaid him by 1.5M made it easy to say goodbye.

They could use him still...like him being one of those shot blocking dummies they use in practice |
