Nah, look no further than the Caps' goalie situation.

Grubauer has 15 starts already and should have 20-22 by the end of the season. They're trusting their back-up, lightening Holtby's load and look how that's working out for them. The Leafs obviously aren't the Caps, but they're keeping Holtby fresh, having success and should be that much more dangerous down the stretch and into the playoffs.

Both (Caps) tenders know their roles and there's no chance of a controversy. Now that we have McElhinney the Leafs should be looking at doing the same thing and it's as simple has Babs sitting down with both tenders and laying it out for them. Andersen doesn't have anything to worry about nor is their any chance of damaging his confidence, while McElhinney knows that he can earn extra starts if he takes advantage of his opportunities.
