I know I may be over reacting Bill but losing is not in my DNA. That is why I am a Flyers fan living in BC, home of the Canucks. I watch every flyer game and have not missed a game in years. I just think that Coach Haskol has taken the offense out of every single line. Why put a weak offensive player with 28 and 83, why break up 17 and 10 when they work so well together. Simmonds had his worst game of the year tonite and last weekend he looked amazing. Something is wrong when you make opposing goalies look like Price. Budha shuts us out and allow 4 goals on 15 shots the next day. Hutton was not tested tonite, no sustained pressure at any time. Get Gost back in there, could have made a dif in ot loss, his puck movement is missed on the pp. His defence is not going to improve in the pressbox. Sorry for rant, just choked. Aprreciate your daily blog Bill, best on HB

We said the same thing with Stevens and Berube. Perhaps the players aren't good enough.

Yikes. Just yikes.

Not enough good players. That's my opinion at least. They're not talented enough to choke an opponent while also generating enough of their own chances

Where does ghost go from here? Coach is essentially telling him his fundamental defensive game is not good enough

I guess you havent caught on to the fact yet, that professional sports coaches don't exactly approach a podium with the intent to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Agree, players are not good enough. GM has to make a change but he won't this season. A house cleaning is needed at least 1-2 core players. This team is stuck in neutral. Ghost must be on the ice for the rest of the year, you can only hope the coaching realizes that.
The core has to be changed. The GM preaches patience with younger players. Well Ron we are being patient waiting for you to make a deal which impacts the on ice product

Did tampas Jon cooper suddenly get stupid over the summer?

It's not just one issue. But the clearest one is they need better players.

His defensive game hasn't been good enough. But he'll be back in on Thursday.

I agree. They don't have enough talent. And when your top player and captain seems to have slowed down greatly it hurts. Not everything is on Giroux but he is the captain and the one who is supposed to lead the team. Unfortunately he just isn't that impact player anymore. Which hurts when he carries a cap hit over 8 million. Could he still be useful with more talent around, of course but how many secondary centers are making 8 million.

The Flyers are still about 2-3 years from being a serious threat. They need more speed and talent in the lineup. Some is coming on the back end. But the need more talent in the forwards.

Could be hard to move in season but I might see what deals are out there for Giroux in the offseason. Try to clear his cap hit and bring some depth and maybe a first rounder back.

I would also see what Simmonds could bring back. I think Simmonds would be the most attractive piece the Flyers have. He is on a great deal for what he brings. That's how I would try to find my future top center. Could I get Bennett from Calgary or maybe Galchenyuk from Montreal. I would target teams with a young future center for anything with Simmonds.

I make all the UFA's available and sell accordingly.

I know many want Couturier and Schenn gone but I think for the contract Couturier is on, even if he is only a 3rd line center, is very reasonable and I still think he has a breakout coming. Schenn has grown on me. He is inconsistent but he is a 20 goal scorer. Also both give us a little size and we have seen both play with some physicality.

This is no just an over reaction to this season. I think changes are needed for moving forward. Changes to the core not just the role players.

SO now I will wait for the "Your a moron" replies.

I agree that simmonds is the only tradeable commodity that could bring back a young top center. They have to consider imo. Being strong down the middle going forward is imperative and as much as we love simmonds, our best forward prospects are of the power forward variety. Lindblom and Allison

If this team continues to play poor and eventually slides in the standings, and falls out of playoff positioning, I can very well see a core guy being moved at the draft. Whether it's Giroux, Simmonds, Couts or Schenn.

Pretty much. Though neither Berube or Hakstol will ever be confused with Scotty Bowman.

If your moving Simmonds, I want a guy like Draisatl coming back. You'll need to add a top D prospect to get a deal like that done.

I dont think there is a chance in hell we acquire Draisaitl, but he is one of my favorite non-Flyers in the NHL

In 4 games since the ASG, they have 1 non empty net ES goal.

Ouch

Probably right, but he's one of the few guys I'd really go all out for. I'd dangle Simmonds and Ghost.

Keep Ghost on the bench. No room for his "offensive" style of game on this team. We need good, hard, defensive players throughout the lineup.
