Question for the gang: I'm trying to get a Centennial Classic Jersey. Wanted Marner, but Matthews is fine too
Anyways, the NHL shop is sold out of every size but medium and the ones at the real sports store are like $50-60 bucks more. Anyone know anywhere else to potentially get one? - PlatosRepucklic

I didn't see the first period, but I was listening to 1050 in the first intermission.
One of the hosts was absolutely ripping Chauncey Gardiner for his play. Directly blamed him for one of the first period goals - basically said he refused to be physical, did some weird twirly check that you'd only see in kids' games. Then he went on to say that some advance stats guys think Gardiner is top 5 in the NHL - and that if this is true, Gardiner needs to start playing like it, because he was awful in the first period.
It was hilarious. - Atomic Wedgie
Advanced stats guys think you can assess a player on these stats, call it possession or whatever.
Yet, when you rank players on the so-called possession stats, the rankings are patently ridiculous and VERY clearly have a huge team component (at least some of them.)
In order to draw any conclusion from any stat at all you need the frame of reference of a "ranking". In this case, the frame of reference is a fail.
When I see possession stats that actually don't have like 19 or the top 20 from 2 teams (like the one Tanner used last week), and have Sidney Crosby 200th or something... then I might believe they have some use.

War-on-ice had a much more well-rounded approach to advanced stats. Shut down, but they had ratings that intuitively made sense, with a few surprises. I guess not controversial enough for some like Tanner. I have not seen anyone come up with anything comparable to what they did.
im just getting set for hockey in 3 hours then prime up for another Leafs game!
