He also excels as a RW if I recall correctly.

Lee - JT - Duchene

- Wildschwein

If I remember, maybe it was Coga that said it, but he greatly prefers playing center. I'd rather spread the wealth anyway. I think Tavares' has proven that he can turn anyone into a reasonably-productive winger, I'd rather stack JT and Duchene down the middle, if possible. Plus Lee and Tavares aren't exactly fast skaters...not sure how Duchene would gel with them.

I just worry about giving up a lot for Duchene and he does not like the commute to Brooklyn or whatever else and the Isles cannot sign him. Landes is locked in longer term.

True. Those extra 2 years are enticing.

Who would you use as his wingers that are currently on the squad?

There isn't a lot of speed on the roster.

Ladd and Nelson maybe?

There's too many forwards here. They're, possibly, going to need to do a lot of purging next year. Especially if Barzal makes the team.

Extending Clutterbuck like that was stupid and I don't care what anyone says. Waste of cap space and a roster spot.

Did they do it because Cal is JT's buddy?

This team has plenty of cap space now and in the foreseeable future. if they needed to they could put Garbovski on LTIR right now to make room for someone on the roster. As it doesn't accumulate it isn't really worth it but they could at any time if needed. They have a ton coming off the cap in JT's year too with Halak, deHaan, Bailey, Grabovski, Kuli, Hickey, Seidenberg, Chimera, etc. all coming off the cap. They will have to re-sign some of them of course but I am guessing Kuli comes cheaper if you want to keep him. I don't think anyone wants Bailey extended no matter how good a year he is having. One of the Lee, Nelson, and Strome will be gone via trade or Expansion draft. .. D-men you can go younger with Pelech, Pulock, Mayfield, and Toews if you lose or fail to extend Hickey, deHaan, etc. . couple of forwards you go younger for cheaper with Barzal, bouv, MDC, and Ho S... .

I hope not, that's a stupid reason.

They extended a 29yo guy who plays a very physical game 5 years. That's dumb. Two more seasons after this one and I guarantee that deal is a big fat headache.

I think Strome is gone in the offseason. He hasn't shown me a damn thing that would make me think he's worth keeping around. Flashes of brilliance are great, but there's too much talent right on his heels and he's going to need a new contract after next season. Whether he's part of a deal for Duchene or not remains to be seen, but I think he's in a different uniform next year.
- eichiefs9

Well these are based on a deal at trade deadline. Stroke may be moved in off season not sure but barxal will need a spot and possibly mdc

Lee is a fixture with jt as far as I'm concerned and Bailey has really fit it there as well. I could see ladd up there but Bailey has the ability to make some plays and help jt in the offensive zone, from what I see Ladd is more of a finisher if you can call him that. Bailey the least can skate with puck, beat a man, and pass it off or shoot.

Don't disagree, but the thing for me with Bailey is that he is going to be 28 next season, the last of his contract. Which means he's 29 when his new contract, whatever it may be, kicks in. Do we want to sign Bailey for another 5-6 years?

It may make sense to, at the very least, consider moving him while his value is high. I'm not sure I feel comfortable committing ~$5M to Bailey long term. He's having a wonderful season for sure, but we all know he hasn't exactly been Mr. Consistency over the course of his career.

I think MDC is in BPT next year too.

But, let's forget any Duchene trade for a second. The only forward with a contract that expires after this season is Gionta.

So under contract for next season we have:

JT
Lee
Nelson
Bailey
Strome
Ladd
Chimera
Clutterbuck
Cizikas
Prince
Quine
Kulemin
Beauvillier
Barzal

That's 14 forwards, assuming Grabovski's career is still over. 15 if he makes a miraculous comeback.

Strome, Prince, Quine I can see being moved as for Bailey its a tough call. Snow loves him and at 29 if he gets a 6 year deal at a reasonable cap hit I think they will keep him. Man hammer, Strome, and a #1 does that get you duchene? May need to add a pick but thats a lot for him. The expansion draft is a real wild card too I think in terms of what teams are going to move, this team as is can make the playoffs but one more guy could really help out. Will Snow pulll the trigger or continue to hoard players, and will the impending new team PoHO force him to make a splash?

Good God almighty get rid of Bailey while his value is up. He's not going to maintain anything how many times have we've seen this show bfr?

Hopefully Snow won't be around this summer. Then Bailey can go elsewhere next summer. I don't see him being traded.

No, no, no ... THIS time he's really starting to get it!

JT is dragging his numbers up. He's still the same player he always was and always will be.

I am going to start this with the following, if the isles dropped bailey off the Brooklyn bridge with cement shoes I wouldn't lose any sleep. He has been the isles most consistent forward all year, and thats not saying much this year. I know you all hate him but hes had a good year be it cause of jt or not. Do I expect him to always play this way? No. However after last game weight even brought up how well he was doing without being asked, he said why arent we asking about him

Prince - may stay or go
Quine

Very much disagree on Cizikas and Kulemin. Nobody is taking another year at nearly $5M for Kulemin, he's really just a good fourth liner at this point. Despite your, and other's, opinion the Cizikas deal is relatively widely regarded as not very good. I highly doubt Vegas is dying for a 4th line center tied up for that long and getting that kind of money. They can make a budget pick for that position.

Depends on what happens between now and then of course, but as of right now de Haan and Hickey are the two most likely candidates to be taken by LV.

Im not suggesting that Kulimen is def moving, just saying its possible bc of contract remaining which is 1yr.
Cizikas is something i heard that LV may take to become captain of team...... heard it here 1st...

On an expansion team he would probably be at least the 3rd line and possibly 2nd line center. Makes the contract that much more palatable and it helps get them to the floor.
