In fairness that was a tough post about the milage I kept adding to it and it was a bit rambly, that said it's hockey buzz not the Harvard newspaper what a Richard - Upstate_isles

He could not have been surprised. He did answer this question. I thought Staple mentioned the Isles did not have much interest in Landes? Maybe that changed after all the goals they have given up lately?
Avsrchamps01 asks…
What's the latest on Landeskog? Seems like Avs are asking for a young Dman, prospect and 1st?
Ek…
I think there is a greater opportunity to move Landeskog later and Duchene sooner…. I was told today the Islanders REALLY like Landeskog and could offer a #1 and Hamonic…The price is lower for Landeskog than Duchene.

well that would be awesome and a deal i'd make. landy gives you offensive production while helping out in his own end, duchene would be nice but the price is too high and hes a one way player

I would focus on Landes instead of Duchene and especially since you can get him for less. Landes fits a bigger need for the Isles.

I would say that Duchene fills a much bigger need. He would provide 1st line scoring as our second line center. This team is seriously lacking consistent secondary scoring with the departure of Frans/Kyle. Even if Ladd produces, they still failed to fill 50% of that void.
It also mitigates some of the risk with Barzal. I love the kid but he isn't a sure thing by any stretch of the imagination. He can start off playing 3rd line center for a couple seasons (assuming he isn't part of the trade) and work his way up. Eventually the day may come where they have to shift either Barzal or Duchene to the wing...but that wouldn't be for Barzal's first season or two.

Isles cannot go wrong with either guy, but I like Landes two way game and he seems better built for the playoffs. I worry Duchene is another one way forward. Landes has the longer contract and Duchene you have to worry about giving up more talent and then signing him.

1st line is playing great, scoring, creating chances, playing in the other teams zone. Duchene at center with say strome and Nelson would be a very good second line assuming one isn't moved in the trade. Third line could be beau chimera and ladd. Now if we trade hamonic strome and del colle and a 1 pick there's a spot open on second line so maybe Ladd slides up and quine goes to wing on third.

I think Strome is gone in the offseason. He hasn't shown me a damn thing that would make me think he's worth keeping around. Flashes of brilliance are great, but there's too much talent right on his heels and he's going to need a new contract after next season. Whether he's part of a deal for Duchene or not remains to be seen, but I think he's in a different uniform next year.

I just worry about giving up a lot for Duchene and he does not like the commute to Brooklyn or whatever else and the Isles cannot sign him. Landes is locked in longer term.
