And why would they want "kids" between the ages of 20-25 ? They were hoping to find players that were further along the development path right?

That's a quick fix.

- belcherbd

Well I disagree (Obviously ). For me, a quick fix would be trading for a guy like JVR. Vey, Bae, Granlund...they were still prospects when we acquired them.

I think we should be able to get more for Sbisa. Polak got 2 2nd round picks last year or the year before that didn't he?
- Mungo

That's a dangerous game to play, just because team A get X for their player doesn't mean we will.

Not that it matters, move Sbisa for whatever you can manage and then ensure Beiga is eligible.

Great word. Right up there with moxie. I hope you're right and he fetches us something.

Could you not see Burrows shadowing Marchant and getting him off his game?

* Clubs will have two options for players they wish to protect in the Expansion Draft:

a) Seven forwards, three defensemen and one goaltender

b) Eight skaters (forwards/defensemen) and one goaltender

- LeftCoaster

I would be surprised if any team chose option B....it certainly isn't an option for us.

WHATS UP WITH CANUCKS AND GAINING OFF SEASON WEIGHT!

Anyways....

Just a continuation about our conversation about trading Burrows and if there is a Market for him. I certainly think there is. Burrows is not a player you want during the regular season... you want that time to go to developing younger players and using Burrows as a mentor. But in the playoffs, you want grit, agitation, dare I say Truculence and a guy willing to bite off a finger. The playoffs is not the place you want your developing guys to have more experiments.

Thats why I think an Eastern Team, someone would would have to play the Rangers, Boston or Philly, would love Burrows. His contract is expiring... he is a pure rental and could be sat if not needed.

Looks like a good fit in Montreal, Columbus or Washington.

- Beatle_john

I just don't see it. Burrows is a 4th liner on a bad team. Why would a good team have any interest?? Also, he isn't exactly popular around the league.

JVR at the time would have cost more than Vey, Baer, and Granlund combined.

Trade Hansen and Sbisa for anything...then we have nobody to lose Vegas would have to choose Pedan or Gaunce

I guess it all comes back to what your definition of a prospect is. Some say it is ability to win the Calder, something Vey was still eligible for as he had only played 18 games in the bigs.

Pedan and Clendenning also would fall under that umbrella.

Even if we are going to call all those players prospects, they are prospects that with the exception of Pedan were waiver eligible and all had a relatively small window to prove that they were capable of being NHLers.

Maybe it's just semantics but anytime you move a player who has 3-5 years of development to prove themselves as a player versus one that has only 1 year is an attempt at a quick fix IMO.

That's not to say it can't work.

I think biting the finger off is a stretch. More like he had it pushed in his mouth and he fought back. He had to have the finger already in his mouth in order to bite it.

Barring trades, I think Anahiem, Winnipeg will for sure take that route and other like the wild, black hawks and others will be tempted.

Lazar...... for Sbisa

Dal Colle. ..... for Hansen

Barzal.... for Tanev

Possible prospects within reach IF JB sends vets out to these teams that need playoffs more then the Nucks do. Plus makes Canucks Vegas exposure less costly.

Las Vegas is going to get some solid players then...they will probably be better than us next year

Pedan has had his opportunities, he doesn't have the foot speed to compete at an NHL level.

I disagree with the foot speed bit, I just don't think he thinks the game well enough.

I agree though, WDhas had plenty of opportunities to use him and they don't. He won't be back next year IMO.

This is the guy that won fastest skater at the Canucks skills comp. Speed is not his issue
