To be fair it's not Darius's fault. You disagree with yourself daily - CanuckDon

I was still reeling from trying to read his 1000 word post so I couldn't show any mercy - CanuckDon
I got part way through it....scrolled down and saw it still at the bottom of the page and just gave up....was there anything good in there? |

I'm back!! Some sleep and back to work this morning, meeting with the senior leadership team...thankfully that's over.
I agree, I don't think Darius is a horrible poster at all. I know he tires of my constant rant on wanting to rebuild, but that doesn't make him a bad poster. It just means we disagree on a means to an end. - LeftCoaster
Honestly, I agree with a lot of your points Lefty, I just don't think this season is the time to do it with the lack of top end lotto draftees and the expansion draft looming. Not to mention, until it's Bo's team and the Sedins gracefully exit stage right, a rebuild won't be able to gain traction.
I also question whether the market could handle a tear-down style rebuild with how close the organization has come to being moribund due to empty areas during the periods where the team has been horrible. I just don't see FA being that patient with all the losing and seeing the fans stay away in droves. |

I was thinking from a Benning has a personal relationship with Julien persective, not on a likeability factor. |

I'm not lazy. I just now get paid every time I go to work instead of being at work all the time for the same pay. |

Whenever I do a long post I always put a TL;DR on the bottom for people who don't want to read the whole thing... Next time I'll bold the TL;DR for people who have ADD and don't want to read all my thoughts. |

Well....you're probably right in that we don't have the right owner to take on the task. However, personally, I think any year is a good year to finish low in the draft, when you're a poop team anyways, to try and pick a good player. Luck is certainly a bigger part of the deal now though....admittedly. |

I 100% agree with you. Not everything everyone says on here needs to be aligned with his thinking, and he needs to learn that everyone has a right to their own opinion and not just his. There doesn't need to be a fight every day. - Codes1087
I don't believe that at all. In fact I have posted many times how everyone's view should be respected. We can argue which is part of the point of being here. We can discuss and exchange ideas too; building up a view. We can chide each other as well which all is in good fun. But I don't look for fights or start them. Especially personal attacks.
The problem is you are talking to Golfing and Marwood two of the most obtuse hecklers and troublemakers ever. They have not stopped from day one to attack everything and anything I post. I have applied various strategies over the months. Ignore, make light of myself, defend and shame. They don't stop their personal attacks and always counter whatever I post. Even if it's exactly what they want to hear. Or when they think I'm not online they start up like now. It's like they have nothing better to do. Then they blame it all on me as if I started up something. Some others join in and there you go. Rinse and repeat.
I don't care. I expect it from them. It's okay. They can keep going on or not. I am not going anywhere. Nor do I believe my BS is any better then anyone else's. We can all picnic in HB and have fun with the food fights or share the meal. Whatever is the soup de jour of the day. |

I wouldn't worry about it...I'd be shocked if we don't have a top 5 pick...our schedule is brutal (and we suck) |

The problem isn't US (ie: the hardcore smart fan who understands what it takes to win and the necessity for having a down cycle in order to build back for success), we'd follow the team regardless and be patient as they build back to being a contender. The problem is that we're a minority in the market, we're only around 20 to about 35 percent of the actual fanbase and for the most part we aren't the ones who spend the most money on the team via tickets and merchandising. It's the casual fan that's the problem, they make up most of the rest of percentage of the fanbase (corporations and sponsors taking up what's left) and they just want a winner. Those are the fans that pay the major money to be at the arena, buy all the gear and line FA's pockets. They'd stay away the minute (and are already) we start to be bad. |

It's an issue if you're trying to win and you finish bottom five in two of the three years you're the manager, thus my distaste for Benning.
Here's what I know, the two most successful periods in Canucks history were lead by players they drafted 2nd, 2nd & 3rd overall (Linden/Daniel/Henrik). Can you simply just draft and say we're gonna win, no, obviously not! It's a culmination of drafting, developing, trading and free agent signings.
I'd like to start with the drafting part, thus my continual harping, towards Benning, on the subject...sadly you all have to listen to it almost daily though. For that, I'm sorry, but I like this format and I think you're all a bunch of good guys. |

It was so disgusting as a season ticket holder during the 2011 playoffs. Every round, the people sitting beside me became less knowledgeable until they started asking me stupid questions like "what's on offside?" during the game.
At one point, I told the guy 2 seats down that he was going to have to pay for my ticket too if I had to answer 1 more of his date's questions. |

Agreed....it's something the/an owner would have accept knowing it's for the greater good. Their pockets are deep, as a general statement, thus I think an owner, in our case the Aquilini family, could suffer though some poor attendance years to have ten years worth of a seriously competitive team. |
