If they feel like they could grab Foote, Hague, or Tippett (I think his draft position rises thought) with that 1st, I think it could be worth wild - DDM-Coga
It would be cool to see Foote's kid go to the Avs |

Love how Tanner said AZ is the team, yet didn't give any details such as who is going the other way, why they have more to offer than other teams(Spoiler: They don't), etc. - Radu47

I think it would be a good mid round pick and a good story for the Avs to get the casual fan base excited again. Get Patrick or Nico plus snag Foote. I think it would get a lot of people excited for next season
Knowing that beloved Footer legacy continues on the team with his son would go a long way. |

Yeah I'd love to see "FOOTE" on the back of an Colorado jersey again. Seems like, overall, a pretty weak draft though. So I don't know how much better pick, say, 16 would be over pick 23. If I were COL and Ekholm was on the table I wouldn't nitpick over too many draft spots. |

I think Colorado is crazy if they trade him. They will never get equal value back.
... unless of course the problem with that team is attitude and culture and he is the primary contributor to the problem.

I just really cant understand why they would want to trade Duchene unless they are vying to compete with the Yotes for the top pick for the next decade rather than make the playoffs. Id keep the group of Mackinnon, Duchene, Landeskog, Barrie and Johnson and move the rest of their dead weight. Look to cherry pick good players from teams who may not be able to retain them.
Instead of trying to land the big fish, I'd go after the likes of Ellis (NSH), Despres (ANA), Martin (SJ), Myers (WPG), Pouliot (PIT) or Johnson (CBJ) before the expansion draft. Several are going to be available at expansion if not moved and could be expected to go at a discount.
Trade Iginla and Beauchemin at the deadline and get picks and prospects to supplement some of these trades. - MacPatty
Logic doesn't exist here.
If they trade Duchene.. a player they drafted, who wants to be there, who they have developed successfully, etc.. for 'the future' of whom none may even turn out as good... pass.
EJ has been hurt almost all year.. our depth on D isn't that good to begin with.. what the hell did people think was going to happen??
LOL.. Amazing all these armchair GM's.. just keep the core together and get rid of the dead weight.. friggin' IGINLA is making over 5m a year and on our THIRD LINE... HELLOO?? MCFLY???????
We have a freakin' PTO player who made the team.. a guy nobody else in the entire NHL wanted (and now we know why) playing on Duchenes wing.. how is that fair to him?? AND HE IS STILL PRODUCING....
Wait it out, let EJ get healthy, trade Iggy for a bag of pucks, move a few other dead weight pieces.. and we're fine. We will have a lot of money to throw at a legit 2nd line wing for Duchene next season instead of wasting that money playing on the 3rd line and only scoring a goal every 10 games on the PP, as well as not playing much D..
Iggy needs to go.. Varly needs to go.. let Picks and Martin run with it, and if that doesn't work out, go find a goalie next year.. the team will be 10x better by removing dead weight and rounding out a competent roster that isn't about to retire yet still 'really really trying' out there..
We'll be fine. If they trade Duchene it's a waste.

they shouldn't trade him but if they do, Nashville seems like a great fit. Get it done Preds, would make your team quite awesome. |

I can understand Nashville, but I can't see Montreal
I've said it before but the three teams that have always stuck out for a possible trade location for Duchene are Ottawa, Philly, or Boston and I think the first two would be more likely.
What would the ask be for Ottawa? Probably starts with Chabot, right? Then what? Stone and a 1st? That seems to be what Joe's asking for. |

Honestly, I wouldn't do stone for duch straight up. Duch is a little more flashy but stone is arguably one of the best RWs in the game from an all around perspective. I'd hate to give up chabot but would do it if our owner poneyed up for a UFA Dman.
Chabot, Lazar, smith and a 1st? Lazar is a reclaimation project but still young enough to figure it out, Smith provides you with a solid roster player that brings some production and two way play, Chabot look like a sure thing if there ever was one. The first is well, the cost of doing business.
I think that's as fair as an offer as you'll get for him. Unless Arizona has a stroke and offers OEL I think the top offers will look similar to this. Likely worse. |

They would be crazy to do that.
to me Chabot and White are almost touchable in terms of prospects and Stone I wouldn't trade straight up for Duchene.
I'm not saying this gets the deal done but I think a good starting point would be Ceci, Lazar and a first |

So a bust in Lazar, a over rated Dman in Ceci who is sneakily bad this year, and a mid 1st round pick.
Awesome starling point of not giving up any proper assets |

Lazar is a first round pick who did awesome in Jr. was Captain of the Gold winning Canadian Jr's and is still super young, and there are reports of multiple teams calling about him.
Ceci, has been one of the most up and coming young Defense for years, is rated very high and can log upwards of 20 minutes a night against other teams top lines.
Duchene is good but he's not that good to warrant the reported asking price of a top 4D, top Prospect, 1st and a 2nd. I didn't say this package gets the deal done, however, it is certainly a starting point.

Lazar hasn't scored in something like 70games, hes a bust and ruined by the Sens. He is a bottom 6 player at this point and doesnt hold much value. Lazar is a complete bust and teams are calling to see if a change of scenery might spark something in him, but based on his play currently the past 2 seasons, hes a bust..ill say it one more time. BUST
Ceci isnt one of the most up and coming Dmen, he had hype around his name bc of his WJC, just like lazar, but after 250 NHL games he is what he is, a fringe 2nd pairing Dmen that are a dime a dozen. He might log minutes on the Sens but doesnt mean he is logging effective shut down minutes. He doesnt have strong suppression numbers, or have controlled zone entries or exits. There is nothing special about Ceci, not physical, not offensive, no a shut down Dman. Just a warm body who can skate and not fall down |

Pretty much every Oil King drafted that year has proven since they were drafted that you really can win with a strong team ethic and no real superstars. |
