Problem is that the Pitt and Wash and anyone else will have made TDL acquisitions themselves so our relative positions will not have changed.
- 67hawks

They may not make acquisitions because they may not need them as much as the Hawks and some other teams do.

Maybe Bowman was being coy with his wording "I don't see us making a trade at the deadline" because he's got a deal worked out with Shalunov to join the Hawks in a month when he's done his KHL season.

... what a sly guy.

Start hoping that Sibar continues to be out of the playoff picture. They are currently 3 points out but there are about 3 or 4 teams within their reach.Regular season ends on Feb.18.

Congratulations! You guys are the 2011-12 Los Angeles Kings. Go sign Dustin Penner and get ready to win yourselves another Cup.

I think counting on Shalunov to come over this Spring and have an actual impact as far as this year in some way is a pretty long bet.
- John Jaeckel

Shalunov's team is 3 pts out of the playoff race with the regular season ending Feb 18th. Is this a possibility he could come over to the Hawks once his KHL season has concluded?

Ehhhh . . . I guess?

I know he has one season in North America (where he struggled a bit as I recall). He may have an NHL future, but I think it's highly unlikely he fills an area of need this season.

Agreed that he would be a long shot but Saad played in the playoffs when he first finished juniors.Maxine is 6'3" and over 200 lbs and has pro experience so perhaps he can be of some help as he could allow the Hawks to invest on Defence.

I know, I know. I should have used a tinge of red font in there.

I like the way the young guys are progressing but standing pat at the deadline will be a recipe for an early spring.

Even if he does, where would he play? Another RW. At least he's a lefty shot. Does the blender move Kane up, Hossa down, and hope the two Americans (Kane/Harty) can get the Toews line going? I'm all for bringing him in for forward depth but just not seeing what others are hoping for

Well, I haven't scouted the kid personally, so I have nothing to go on except just knowing how hard it is to come in to the NHL fromm anywhere except the NHL and have an immediate impact. Especially the NHL playoffs.

Bear in mind, Saad's first 20-25 regular season games were kind of a train wreck. he really struggled.

I don't feel bad for the Blues ya know cause they're scumbags and all but losing Fabbri may be their death blow for this already tumultuous season for them. knock of wood it doesn't happen to our Hawks

Any more mention of Vadim Shipachyov? Again, he'd be the same situation, but older, played with Panarin. Thought there was mention of possibly him being coaxed over by a couple of teams including the Hawks, and letting him play center and maybe moving Anisimov to LW for Toews.

Remember that well JJ, hadn't found hockeybuzz yet so I was flying blind and listening to Pat & Eddie......so I wasn't as informed as I am now.

Keep up the good work my friend. And who knows, if an over the hill future HOFer can lead the biggest comeback in SB history, maybe our future over the hill HOFer (#81) can lead us to a SC.

I just get the feeling Q is uneasy with rolling Forsling or Kempny come playoff time. Oduya gives us 6 solid d-men. I like Hanzal too...that would be a nice get. I'm thinking Duchene and Sharp are above our price range. I don't know...next three weeks will be interesting.

I know TVR and Kruger are expansion eligible. Is Hartman also available for Vegas to pick? Is there anything we can do to make sure Hartman is not available? Outside of trading him?

- onehundredlevel

Yes Hartman is expansion eligible and yes we can protect him. TVR on the other hand wouldn't be worth protecting because of the other players we'd be forced to expose to protect him.

He plays for SKA St.Petersburg which is one of the top teams so it's doubtful his KHL season would end in time to get on the Hawks playoff roster.

Yup. Oduya. If he and Hammer can play like they did in 2015. This would go further imo than 1lw. Especially for what you gotta give up.

Plus If the hawks sign him this year he has to pass thru waivers or something. IE every team would have to approve him being on the hawks so no way that happens.

in regard to maxim. Nobody on this board can really tell if he would be a help in our top 9. But does anybody with any inside Info can tell me if
A) we are going to try and get him to come over after his season is over?
b) If he would be open to it and sign his ELC
C) would Sibir let him out of his contract early?
D)Are the hawks allowed to give Sibir and type of compensation for letting him out of his contract?

Don't want to toot my own horn but I did start the " Hitch Watch" a month or so ago, I am sure I wasn't the only one, also said that the Central division wasn't as strong as in the past this year and that the blue's and preds would take a step back this year and dallas still needed a goalie. The wild have shown that they are the team who improved more than anybody else in Central. That being said we know you don't win the cup in regular season so wild will have to prove themselves in playoffs. Nice call by coach 'Q' inserting Tootoo into lineup sat. against dallas which led to #21 getting what he deserves.
