Was just throwing stuff out there and seeing if it'll stick. Ottawa and Toronto both turning heads with their performances.
Zach Hyman looks like a decent player for the Leafs. Wonder if Lazar is out there as some have mentioned? - 93Joe
Yeah, I feel you. I would love Hoffman too, but it feels like the long term targets that have been mentioned are all coming from teams that are out / highly likely out of the picture for this year (Avs, Wings).
The exception is the Leafs, but that's because they have a very specific rebuild plan and they're willing to part with assets for value if it helps with the future. Any experience the team gains is great, but their target is still further out. |

Dzingel has 11 goals, is a strong skater and is a +5. no idea why OTT would trade him unless they are worried about losing him in the EXP draft but he would be a solid pickup. Ott is in the playoffs as of today. They are on cusp right now. Lazar did not even play. Yak did not play either. looks like OTT would be looking for scoring? which we really don't have. |

I think he's fine in zone, it's transitioning that he's got issues. I wouldn't mind him in a lower line role, but I doubt the Jets trade a young player in-division. Don't mean to poop on your suggestion.
Your boy Baertschi is out with a concussion. Sucks. - L_B_R
I saw that. I know he's a Canuck but the kid has some talent and it's a shame to see him out. |

Personally, knowing the logic behind the Hawks interest in Duchene, I think they are quite willing to "overpay" to acquire the right guy with a couple of years left on his deal.
JVR, Duchene, Tatar come to mind.
I know the rumor police will want to quash that line of thinking, but hey . . . Doesn't mean they won't have to default in the end to an expiring contract like Vanek, or (ugh) Sharp or Iginla.
But think about it, if the Hawks grab say Vanek this year, and he goes somewhere else this summer, then they have to overpay again next year for a left wing possibly. The "two year" investment actually makes some sense. - John Jaeckel
It sure would be nice to talk about something other than the need for a top 6 LW for a year or two.
BTW: JVR's contract is up at the end of 17-18 per capfriendly.com. |

Ottawa wI'll have some really tough decisions for protection for the expansion specifically up front. Dzingel could be a guy on the outside looking in but you're right.. why trade him now? They can figure that out in the offseason.

At this point the Leafs have progressed beyond expectation and schedule because their rookie forwards have played so well this season. The area of weakness they need to fix is on the blueline which won't be easy - they really only have one very good defenceman in Morgan Rielly; Zaitsev is OK but the rest won't turn any GM's crank when talking trade.
But if Stanbo wants a LW like JVR so badly and can talk Mike Babcock and Uncle Lou into taking the heavily flawed, soon to be over the hill Duncan Keith, I'm sure the Leafs would do him that favour.

No! Only to the Hawks and you've got a lot of nerve calling them good. |

What a relief it would be to have that boat anchor and his rapidly diminishing skills screwing up someone else's blueline group. Git 'er done Stanbo!

I know you are not serious, but very soon Stan will need to do just this kind of thing, trade some members of this team while they still have value. It will be hard(in the fans eyes), but please I don't want the Chicago Blackhawks to turn into the present day Detroit RedWings. |

Yup, Viktor Svedburg has waited long enough for his chance with the Hawks. |
