Grant is horrible, no matter if he's with or without the Sabres.

Problem with 13th forwards is they sometimes become 12th forwards, and that blows.

He does nothing to help any of the young guys that may come up from the minors, and IMO hurts their ability to get the line to function in any offensive manner, thus making them look bad as well.

25 games this season and 0 points.

I know the role of the 4th line on this team as it is now is more of a "give the others a breather" thing, but that doesn't mean it's the best way to manage that line if they had a skill player on the roster over him.

I'm fine with him being given a shot at 4C
It's not like Grant was scoring much earlier this year
What were his numbers?

Stats aren't the only factor, and I mentioned more than that in my post, but Grant has a whopping 3 assists in his 35 games as a Sabre.

It's also that Grant can win faceoffs, plays the PK, and is ultimately a more sound player on the roster than Deslauriers ever will be that makes me bring it up (Grant's CF% is 43.3 compared to Deslauriers' 37%)

I'm basically arguing ANYONE over Deslauriers is what I'd prefer.

I'd like to see a 4th line with a capable center, Fasching and Carrier next year

I'd rather they re-assigned Deslauriers and kept Grant for the 4th line...

Gerbs asked that question he other day. On which would rather have . I said Grant.

Should I have said Crosby ?

Dating back to the 3-in-a-row AHL ROYs, I've always wanted this team to just have 1 line of AHLers...but it never happened.

What's the point of developing them? IMO, bring them up, keep them with old teammates they're familiar with, and help introduce them to the big league. Have vet FAs and the like fill in on any other lines, maybe rotate in to that line here and there, but overall to let a young line just work.

I remember your answer, but was it Grant/Deslauriers? I thought it was Grant/Ribiero?

Not sure anyone could choose Deslauriers over Grant without bias in that scenario.

i don't get why they would do a mid season rule change.. that is just stupid. i didn't know that about lehner, maybe he is smarter than he looks and realized it might be too much of a switch to change mid season

It was supposed to start at the beginning of the season, but there was some sort of issue that delayed production of them or something. SOme guys have had them and been wearing them all season (Lehner is one of them). He did say that for the most part he hasn't noticed a difference other than he has to squeeze his arms harder against his sides when pucks come that way otherwise they can squeak through whereas the pants kind of prevented that more before.

Lehner is a pretty vocal guy, so my guess would be if he'd encountered an issue where he felt his safety was at risk, after having worn them for more than half a season already, he'd have spoken up and said something.

haha, just clarifying because while I think the kid is out to lunch on a lot of things, I would hope he was sensible to not think Grant would be worse than Deslauriers.

Wasn't Miller whining about the upcoming rule changes? Wonder if he's spoken out about the pants coming in now.

I wouldn't mind that line of thinking.

I want 4th liners to be skilled enough to move up the lineup if need be.

Enough with the Grants and Ellis's (and D-lo's) of the world.

I'm not sure. But there's a part of me that would understand him being concerned. The last time they changed the goalie equipment was when they removed some padding from the blocker and he ended up breaking his thumb in that very spot only weeks into the season (05-06). I'd probably be against equipment changes if that happened to me too, especially when it comes to reducing what the equipment covers.

Yeah . Delo has his place on the team IF we were in a playoff spot. But we still need better than him atm. The team just isn't there yet. If they play like they did the other night tonight. My brain would think they are finally getting it. Heart would think, lets see the next game..and the one after that.
