Nah, Cherry hates him because Nylander's cute face makes Cherry question himself.

He is not comfortable with the stirrings he feels, deep inside.

Anyone else getting a little concerned about Andersen again.
- Aetherial

A few rough games now... we won last night in spite of his performance... Thankfully the Boston goalies were slightly worse...

Didn't he just get back-to-back shutouts recently?
- Zezel

yeah against poopty teams but before and after those two games, seems to me he has been struggling. Pulled at least once, given up some pretty weak goals recently.

He doesnt look as calm or confident as he did Nov/Dec

That goalie equipment size thing should prove interesting for their stats leaguewide

He's been so good I bet it's just ups and downs in a season, he'll bounce back imo.

Interesting look at it on the broadcast last night, the five-hole factor with these new pants could add to scoring, which would be cool.

Sure hope so. I think he is the most important player on the team. We all saw what happened from the poopty goaltending the last couple years.

A .894 SV% since the 1st of January so yes, I am a little concerned. Mostly I just don't think he was as good as he looked during his insane hot streak and we should expect a few bad games here and there with his final numbers by the end of the season being pretty good. That's what happens with most good but not elite goalies anyway.

Agreed, he's been huge for them. Especially with no real goalie depth, if he falters or gets injured they're done.

It might force the goalie to close up the butterfly stance a bit

I would say Andersen not playing like the son of god lately has been the biggest reason why they haven't been winning much lately though. He was stealing almost every game lol. When he's average instead of amazing the Leafs bad D all of a sudden becomes noticeable.

exactly.

you notice how andersen's numbers drop coming out of breaks?

beginning of the season, coming off an injury... leafs team defense was sloppy... andersen's numbers suffer

after the christmas break... team is sloppy defensively... his numbers suffer yet again

after the week layoff... team once again sloppy defensively... andersen's numbers suffer

coming out of the all star weekend break... leafs d once again sloppy... andersen's numbers suffer

once this young team finds their stride again andersen's numbers will improve... this isnt unusual for a young team... once they find their defensive game as a team again his numbers will shoot back up, i am not worried

(frank) getting that win in regulation was big. Especially with the spectre of the epic collapse against Boston and the Leafs' blown leads this year, that's a good boost for them to have found a way to get the result despite adversity. Boston was so close to burning one of the Leafs' games in hand. Now it's still advantage Leafs in that playoff race. Hugely significant win.

Well according to some the Leafs were collapsing after a 3 game losing streak

So yeah, leafs fans are pretty dumb sometimes

That's true, it does seem to be related to days off. I wonder if that's a coincidence or if he just needs time to get into a groove after breaks.

well they were technically only 3 points up on last in the division before winning last night. a 3 game streak either way does make a huge difference in the standings. with the leafs being the leafs it's pretty hard to blame anyone for panicking.

One guy was even talking about falling to Lilagren

Those kind of people are just as bad as the people who say they will win the cup this year

It wasn't the losses but how they were losing... earlier losses were close, tight games where a bounce here or there would have changed the outcome... the latest losses have been sub par goaltending, weak defensive coverage and being lost in the neutral zone... hopefully last night's win gives them a shot of confidence and they tighten up their game...

i think its more of the team in front of him playing sloppy and allowing high percentage chances... i think people sometimes forget that hockey is a team game... and this is a very young team... once they get going the are fine but unlike veteran teams they have yet to learn how to come out of a break playing the same hockey they were before the break.

i think people tend to forget that this is an absurdly young team... and they are now hitting the stretch where more veteran teams are playing far more consistent hockey... also... the leafs arent surprising anyone anymore... teams know about their offense and come up with game plans to counter it.
