Finally.... The whole weight thing is a joke, I'm sure he deserves most the blame for coming in as heavy as he is. That said how does a player get that big while training with the organization staff and then start in the NHL ?
Either they decided they wouldn't hold him accountable for not being in shape or wanted him to come in and play at a heavier weight. - belcherbd
I remember reports of him bulking up. Guess that didn't work for his cardio. Shoulder injury set back and then it just snowballed from there with his game. It's harder to get results each year you must improve. JV needed more work on the details of his game.
That picture that Booner posted is deceiving. He's not fat in there. He's got baby fat on the face. Yes. But anyway the truth about things is not as easy to see. He's not a humble kid and must learn to appreciate what it takes more. But he's getting that and will be ready to bring a skill set so badly needed for this team. |

I hope not. No need to rush him, another year in junior certainly won't hurt him. - Marwood
Agreed.
Hopefully with our 'depth' on D, OJ won't make the cut and can marinate a bit longer.
And also, hopefully Boesser comes in to the lineup to give us something to focus on . |

We want a hockey player not a town drunk - VANTEL
Word is he spent a lot of time in the Yaletown Asstits Club getting honey-potted by all the scattered ass that works there. |

Who's out of line up for next season if BB, JV make it? Plus possibly a recovered having another go at it Rodin?. What about DD? Four in for Megna, Chaput, Burr and lose him to Vegas Guance? So two get top 9 the other 2 fourth line for hitting and scoring. Still need a center though. Granlund? Chaput? New prospect?
Something tells me JB may make deals to send Subban/Grenier/Pedan to protect Hansen and Sbisa so Vegas takes Guance. Vegas gets two youngish guys for farm and call ups plus young forward who's at least 4th line ready. I'm going with this alternative Vegas option. |

DD seems like he would be able to provide some mentorship around playing hard every shift, forechecking and fighting too.
Although i still hope that JV develops into a top6 PWF vs a bottom 6.
I want JV to be a mix of DD and Bo in a perfect world. - dbot

Sure, I agree that it is on Jake. That said, don't (frank)ing trot him out to play in the NHL then.
Like I said, mgmt seems to have gotten it now but their "development" of both Jake and McCann were hilariously inept. Do you remember the team stating that they were sitting McCann so he could get gym days in ? - belcherbd
While I would agree somewhat of the handling of both situations you can't really fault the team for Jake showing up 25 lbs overweight and McCann being a pompous ass wiener in the dressing room. A lot of these kids today (even pro's) feel self -entitled before they step on NHL ice. It's a good wake up call for JV to be down there and hopefully he acts like a pro and does what he needs to do. |

I don't know.
i find your posts v difficult to read and end up giving up usually after the 3rd go.
My lineup next year would look something like this, but it's a long ways off, lots can/will change:
Sedin/Sedin/Erikson
Sven/Bo/JV
Granlund/Sutter/Boesser
DD/Gaunce/?Grenier
Burrows retires
Hansen is traded
Chaput, Skille and Megna let go or playing in Utica.
edit: Yes that lineup sucks.
Yes we still need a top 6 PWF and drop JV to third line and BB to 4th to learn to play (maybe give him some 2PP time). |

I would like to see a line of Kane JV and draft Rasmussen - VANTEL
I was watching or listening to a scouting report saying our Surrey boy Rasmussen likes to have maybe a little too much fun away from the ice. This was an early season report I only recently came across. It may have even been Craig Button from a couple of months ago. Hmmm... I'm all over the place with Rasmussen. I want to get bigger down the middle desperately. I'm not worried about his speed but almost all of his points are on the PP and his 5 on 5 is all secondary assists it appears. Then there's away from the ice comments coming from a scouting report?
I will take a look for it just to make sure I'm not giving the kid some undeserved doubt. |

Later we find out they are running hookers, dealing blow, and challenging the Angels for a slice of the lower mainland. Tryamkin brings in the Russians to hold onto territory.

The Greater Vancouver line that hits and scores.

Little known fact.... Evander Kane has 0 slap shot goals.....
If we traded for Kane, it better be a yakupov size trade because I wouldnt touch Kane with a 10 foot pole. There is only 1 demension to his game.... he's pretty much Radim Vrbata but with no discipline. |

LaBate seems to have been scratched a lot. Odd considering he was one of the final cuts for the Canucks. |

He is why I believe Tanev can be traded, plus he has more offense. Was hoping he was still available when we picked. |
