As far as bad last names go, Rotter is up there. Not as bad as Lipshytz, but still bad.

I like Rotter's site, but he is just a consolidator of information. He doesn't offer much independently, he just takes everyone else's info and puts into one neat place. Although I haven't been there in awhile.

Loved Carpinello. BACK in the day John Dellapina with the Daily News was a good Rangers beat guy for a long time.

With most UFA contracts, the chances are high that the team is not going to be thrilled with the deal on the backend. That's the nature of unrestricted free agency, as you have to give those extra years to get the player. The upside, short term, is that you don't give up player personnel.
- Pete V

ya thats a huge plus to Shattenkirk, but that Sami V contract looks pretty good and goes for 3 more years I believe.

pros and cons to both, goes without saying

I've never seen that fight before, but that might be one of the better ones I've seen.

PETE^ That was the Gretzky hat trick game in the Rangers first game vs Messeir after he signed in Vancouver. The end of that game was a mess with at least 3 fights I can remember. Brashear fought Cairns & killed him, also Langdon fought Gino Odjick, I had that on a VHS tape, its somewhere in my parents attic still with the rest of my archives.

Epic pretty much sums that up!
Didn't remember Keane as a fighter, tough, but not much of a fighter.

Sometimes those middle weight bouts where guys don't always fight end up being great fights. Maybe because they have no concept of dodging punches or something.

Todd Harvey fights were always like that, he was a wild, quick puncher.

yeah, it's not their "job" to fight, so when they actually drop gloves, it's always when they are really pissed off

If we really want to cash in for players we probably wont hold on to after expansion... why not shop Grabner for a defensemen... flip side is that we lose speed/fore-check w/ explosive scoring potential. But maybe this will help developing players like Miller, Kreider, Vesey, Hayes to fill in that void. Another is Holden, obviously surprising season but we could cash in for a young stay at home defensemen.

I always member Joe Kocur saying the worst thing you could do in a hockey fight is be too mad, cause you are more likely to lose focus & not concentrate on the other guy who's throwing fists at you. Interesting point.

Keane looked like he wanted to kill Walker.
Huge Harvey fan too. That kid gave it all every shift.

I suggested selling high on Grabner. Didn't get too many that agreed with me...actually no one agreed. He's going to get selected in expansion since there is no way to protect him.

I said this before, the funniest thing when Muckler was Coaching us was when him & Stan Fischler would talk, it was like 200 years of hockey knowledge between those two.

He was the 90's version of Cally. His style of play took its toll on him. Sad, cause I liked the kid. Did a little of everything...kinda like a Barnaby lite.

I get your point but Grabs is such a big part of this team right now, I really feel he's the engine that's driving this team, besides Zuc & Kreider is getting there too.

Easy for a guy like Kocur to say that, he probably could have been a boxer. The fighters like Kocur, Domi, Stu, Probert, etc. have that calm in battle thing. That Keane fight looked more like a brawl.

I think Grabner adds a very important element to this team, even if he didn't have this really unexpected goal total.

I don't think that they can protect him over any of the forwards that are put in that protect group (he's the odd man out), but if a trade were to be made with someone upfront heading out, I certainly wouldn't mind protecting him. If not, who do you protect him over?
