I've always felt Read was as important to Couturier as Jake is to G.
- SuperSchennBros

Couturier had his best ever scoring season last year, and Read had his worst, so I think it's the other way around.

According to Kevin Weekes or Mike Rupp (can't remember which one of them said it), Ghost's problem is Provorov. Can't take the heat of a younger/better guy stepping in.
- Scoob

As ridiculous as that sounds, I won't lie I had a slight thought about this in the very beginning of the season. Provy has been hyped up as the Prodigal Son (rightfully so) and I wondered if that had an impact on Ghost possibly taking a back seat to the fan base with Provy's excitement. But I threw this thought aside after a couple of weeks bc I thought it was ridiculous in the end.

Couturier's line of Read and Cousins or Weise is a real third line. They've actually been awesome! If Hakstol deserves any credit, it's been getting the most of what he can from Schenn playing center, so we're deeper at center.

I think we're finally living in our perfect world. Enough with the changing of the combinations. We have 30 games left.

- SuperSchennBros

I always felt we got the best out of Schenn on the RW with Couts. But, I don't have the stats to back that up.

The Jersey sales kind of dispute this:

I blame management for that problem. Very often management overpays players.
- Scoob

Well yeah, no player is going to say no, I'm not really that good, pay me less.

The problem often isn't the actual salary, but the length of the deal. AMac, even if the cap hit was 5.25 million, on a 4 year deal would have been much better than 6 years at 5 per. I also very much doubt anyone was giving Dale Weise more than 6 million over 3 years and, if they were, Hexy should have hung up the phone.

Honestly the flyers dont have a true third line...

In a perfect world you could have something like this...

Konecny-G-Simmer
Schenn-Couts-Jake
A-Real-3rdline
Weise-Belle/Read-Luby/Raffl

- jak521

My hope is they can find a decent FA signing and Lindblom comes over next year and helps with balancing lines.

Start the year with:

12-28-93
11-10/14-17
96-10/14-FA/24/25

Then you can move Raffl to L3 if Lindblom is successful.

Again, management's fault. That's why I don't include contract value or cap hit when I'm evaluating a player. The guy is either doing his job well or he's not. "He sucks at $6M but he'd be good at $2M" is a dumb statement when evaluating a player.

I have no idea if it's true or not. I'm sure some of the GMs and coaches here will tell us, though. lol

Year 1: Wow, look at this guy! He's going to be great

Year 2: He's not great yet. I would move him in the right deal (whatever the (frank) this means)

There is something to it though. For example, Radko Gudas, at 3.35 million is a solid 2nd pair Dman. If he was being paid 7 million per, I don't think people would be nearly as happy with him. Prior to the cap, you are 100% correct, but now, the contracts really do matter.

I don't think so. Just because a GM overpaid in contract negotiations relative to similar players in the NHL, does not change said player's level of play.
