I'll just sum up both debates with this before I log off.
Konecny and Gostisbehere being scratched for a game isn't a real punishment. They're just gonna go back to the same roles and the same ice time saturday. A real punishment for Ghost for example is replacing him with Streit on the PP while he watches from the bench. You know who has been really been punished this season and rightfully so? Dale Weise. Expected periods of time as a healthy scratch, while Cousins plays (who isn't really that good of a player). Weise has had hos Power Play taken away for long stretches, again for Cousins at times. That's punishment.
As for White vs. Weise and Gordon, White produces on the fourth line of a bad team in less games than Weise and for cheaper. If you wanna defend your management/team to the death, god bless. The numbers are there.
White may suck but Weise and Gordon suck longer and harder. - SuperSchennBros
I have the utmost respect for you as a poster, and I'm fond of you as one of the original posters. I just can't understand your logic sometimes.
Scratching a player for the entire game is not a punishment, but moving him off of the first PP unit is a punishment?
Dale Weise being scratched is a punishment, but Gostisbehere being scratched isn't?

Billy, I think the penalties-taken you mentioned was a key indicator to success during the winning streak. I think they probably averaged 2 or less penalties per game. They're really a scrappy, grinding team when they stay out of the box. |

Your obsession with me is flattering and puzzling rolled into one. Your knowledge of hockey is sad though, if I had to sum it up into one word. It's cute to see you try though. |

Weise is scratched for numerous games in a row. Ghost isn't. Simple.
I'm sure Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Schenn and Ghost have pride in being o the first unit. If anyone of them were permanently replaced as Jagr was before moving on as openly having issues with this, this would be a real issue. It's really simple. |

Agreed. Ghost has been terrible offensively too. Of 481 NHL players who have played at least 400min at 5v5, he is ranked #450 in points per 60min at 5v5. The only Flyer who is worse is Weise (#463). Carrying the puck he has been really bad-- he has 48 giveaways and his -36 giveaway/takeaway ratio is 10th worst in the entire NHL (worst on the Flyers is Provorov at -40, 7th worst in the NHL). Love Ghost- even named my car after him- but I just close my eyes and pretend this season isn't happening. |

This explains the teams problem. They figure god will do it for them |

Perhaps they should throw a shout out to Zeus, Odin and the dark Lord Cthulhu. May as well cover all bases. |

Okay it's really simple. How many games constitutes numerous games? If Gostisbehere does not play today, does it become a punishment? |

How does scratching Ghost and Konency make the team better over Cousins, Weiss, Shultz, Del Zorro, read, Roman Lyubimov,Nick Cousins,,Bellemare,Chris Vande Velde, MacDonald,Brandon Manning MAKE ANY FREAKING SENSE
hextall screwed this team during the off-season. He didn't bring in any offensive help or NHL capable players. Boyd Gordon and Dale Weiss.

Ghost and Konency should both be back in the lineup. Did the Flyers win because they were out..No. The Habs were terrible and came out flat just like the Flyers did against the Canes. Give the Flyers credit for getting the 2 points but I agree with you, the Flyers are a better team with those 2 in the lineup

Theoretically, it doesn't make them better right now, but that's not really the point of it. |

I have a bad feeling that unless Neuvy really stands on his head, they get steamrolled by a hot LA team today.
Oh well, at least that will get the kids back in the lineup for the next game.
