I would probably go like this once Del Zotto back:

Provorov - Manning
Streit - Gudas
Del Zotto - Gostisbehere

I mean really with the defenders we have there is no exact lineup that can please everyone

- J35Bacher

I like this better:
Provorov-Gudas
MDZ-Ghost
AMac-Streit

If everyone is healthy, Manning would be my 7th & Schultz traded or waived.
Provorov gets to play his natural side and our top pair gets a bit of physicality
Ghost gets a vet who can skate and if healthy, is at least a solid player
Streit, who has lost a step, gets a partner that can skate

We've finally found out AMac's strength! He can skate without falling frequently!

Sure is a different scenario...

Scenario #1 TK and Ghost are scratched and told they are being sat as punishment for bad play.

Scenario #2 G is being scratched and given the game off to rest and is told such.

If that isn't clear that one is punishment and the other isn't to you I can't help you.

- dragonoffrost

It's the same thing.

Scenario 1. Konecny and Gostisbehere sit a game and than go back to their exact same role one game later but told as punishment.

Scenario 2. Giroux sits a game than back to his exact same role one game later but told he's being rested.

Is Nick Schultz being punished all season? No. His role has changed because other players are better.

Scratching a player is definitely taking away his ice time.

Not if he goes back to the same role, not really, no.

NHL teams have pro scouting departments. They just don't bring players in to make a determination. If he is better than what we have and can help us, then by all means make a claim if he falls to us. If he is not better than why bother? That's what it should be based on. Not from a fan perspective of give it a whirl.
- MJL

`
Just like how they determined that Weise and Gordon are substantially better than what we had and can definitely help us. This is not something a fan should partake in.

I don't mind that.

But even that I would prefer Provorov with someone with a little more puck skills. Again its hard to have a lineup that is perfect with so many imperfect pieces

Hartnell managed to become a 30+ goal scorer while falling every 6 feet. That's damn impressive.

Ryan White is head and shoulders better than Dale Weise and Boys Gordon. Cheaper too. Feel free to respond with some nasty jokes.

Dale Weise and Boyd Gordon are the poster boys of the grass being greener on the other side. Ryan is tougher and grittier than both. He could kill penalties if asked. He was a decent faceoff man. Again, Ryan White was cheaper. In fact I liked the offense he could chip in and I felt his offense ipside per season was better than Bellemare and Vandevelde's. Far from a perfect player White was but I thought he was a decent player here.

The flyers pro scouting department respectfully disagrees...and will counter with Weise for 4 years at 2.3 mil and Boyd Gordon on Day 1 of ufa.

He played on the PK, but that didn't make him a good PKer. The report I heard was that he wanted a raise and a multi-year deal so the Flyers looked elsewhere, and White then realized he overpriced himself. But still, I'd prefer him and his contract over Gordon and Weise and theirs.

Very true, hopefully by 18-19, it's something like:
Provorov-Myers
Sanheim-Gudas
Morin-Ghost

Dale Weise has sucked in the o-zone, but at least he's been good in the other 2 zones to make him at least partially useful. And it's not like he's not a guy with a 30 point track record. That he rebounds isn't outlandish. I wasn't thrilled with the signing on July 1st even though.

But Ryan White just is not good. Plain and simple, he's just barely an NHL player and there's no upside. His PKing was horrendous too fwiw. And I have it on good authority that he smelled.

They kept cap with Grossmann, Schenn and Vinny. So might not have been able to do that or if they did might not have been able to do the Vinny/Schenn deal

Someone is going to be moved for a forward prospect. I almost wonder if it will be Gostisbehere. Not because of this year. But if Myers at 6'5'' and Sanheim at 6'3'' can bring you offense plus the two way game of Provorov I wonder if they would move gostisbehere for a forward.

That's far from now but does make me think just because Myers and Sanheim can bring you offense while still being able to play probably bigger minutes.

I thought you said you didn't know. Meaning you didn't know if they could keep cap. Sorry. I understand what you meant.
