You did not answer my question. You stated that Hakstol has not done one thing which is taking away ice time from Gostisbhere. How is scratching him not taking away his icetime. Once we resolve that, then I'll be happy to address your other points. - MJL
Scratching a player and actually taking a player's ice time are two different things. If Hakstol scratches Giroux during the last game of the season because we're as good as in the playoffs, is this a punishment? Is he taking G's ice time away? |

Marchenko and Ribeiro on waivers - YuenglingJagr
This is the one thing I wish the Flyers did a little of. SOme of these teams do a little tinkering with waiver pick ups that are low risk but could be a good depth guy to get in and then see how he performs.
I mean would it be all that bad to bring in Marchenko and move Manning to a 7th guy and waive Schultz?

Scratching a player is taking away all their ice time for that game. Which I see as more of a punishment. The option you are suggesting could be considered like a $1k fine for most players. |

Not a chance. That 10.5 mil a year is an anchor and in just a couple of years it will drown the team that has him on it.
If contracts were taken out of the conversation, i would still say no. Coots is younger and will still be an effective player when the young D-men, that are coming, will be playing a big role in the Flyers line-up.

So he's better than a glorified tweener in Manning? - dragonoffrost
He may be better, but he also costs a lot more. |

Imagine the cap hell they would be in if they had to resgin Keith? they were lucky to get him to that long term deal before the contract limitations came into effect.

From a contract perspective no way. Anyone that says the would take the Toews contract over Coots is a liar.
From who is a better player perspective it is not even close. Anyone that says that would take Coots over Toews is a liar. |

The flyers have no room for someone on waivers...and anyway he would just be scratched as well. I don't really see Marchenko being of any help to them |

Scoring doesnt shut up the haters. Getting more than 50 points will shut up the haters. If you are the 2nd line Center 50-60 points is expected. This guys highest is 39..... - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Since you apparently had a stroke, I'll finish the rest of your sentence: 39 points in 63 games, a 51 point pace. |

Cap recapture penalties are going to destroy CHI's cap once Hossa retires though. Keith as well iirc. |

Toews has been a better player in the past five years. In the next five years, when Toews will be 29-34 and Couturier will be 25-30 I think it will be much closer. |

Different scenario.
The discussion was about ice time as a punishment. Taking away PP time compared to scratching. |

How don't they have room? Thye only have 46 contracts. Can make space waving someone like Schultz.
I wouldn't mind taking a chance on a 6'3'' right handed shot. |
