I think your expectations are unrealistic in today's NHL

O'Reilly is a good player
7mil is what they cost
Would u rather have Grigorenko, Zadorov & Compher back?
Should we have not re-signed O'Reilly?
Do u want to trade him?

Idk what you're point is

- jdfitz77

Yes, he is.

No, not all of them. he's the 19th highest contract in the league

8. Another UFA-to-be worth watching: Buffalo’s Dmitry Kulikov. Nightmare of a start to the season, a freak pre-season injury from smashing into an open bench door. Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said Kulikov won’t practise much the rest of the year. He played 24:11, 25:32 and 22:47 in the last three games, after a month-long absence. Eric Engels mentioned his availability during the Buffalo/Montreal broadcast Tuesday night, and it makes sense. He’s better than we’ve seen during this cursed season, though.

I know i'm in the minority....but I want to see a full year with Kuli being fully healthy...

even if he ends up poopting the bed...

McCabe - Risto
Guhle - player X
Kuli - Fedun

or something like that..

Carrier has had plenty of time in the top6 & has barely produced
I'd prefer Foligno
I think he's played pretty well for the most part
Although, I'm usually bartending when the games are on.
So I don't get to sit down & watch many of them very closely

- jdfitz77

Foligno isn't fast enough to keep up with Eichel, having him and Reinhart with the faster Eichel isn't a good match IMO. Carrier seems faster to me, so just swap him and Foligno. Foligno's speed matches much more with O'Reilly and Okposo anyways

He does other things than score

I think Toews has about 9-10goals this year
Are fans in Chicago complaining bc he isn't on the scoresheet enough?

O'Reilly is an all-around player who does things other than score
And those other things add to his value

- jdfitz77

Go check their boards, they are and have been all season (mainly when they lose games, which of course is when most complaining happens)

O'Reilly wasn't the only answer to fill that void. The Sabres voluntarily chose to go that route. He absolutely should be evaluated based on the price paid. I'm willing to give him a pass because of the injury this year. However, the notion that a lack of scoring can be dismissed because he "does other things" is a bad one. I think he will get to a satisfactory level of scoring more often than not (provided he stays healthy), but he doesn't get a pass for not doing so.

LOTS of guys making a LOT of money that aren't putting up good numbers. I don't think it's an O'reilly thing.

Lets take a second to remember hockey players are not robots just because a guy makes 7 mill a year doesn't mean hes never going to hit rough patches.
Its not like O'Reiley is sitting with 15 points not doing a damn thing, also pretty sure he is playing hurt.
If Mcilrath (SP) is on waivers a second time and cleared maybe hes just not good at hockey....

$$$$$$$$$

production for being on first line

take your pick

- homiedclown

I'll repeat what I said to 19

That's what good players cost
ROR is a good player
20something goals
60somethimg points
He does other stuff well also which adds to his value

What would u prefer?
That we never made the trade?
That we trade him now?

And there's PLENTY MORE who signed for just less bc they did their deal before ROR's
His deal was fair market value
We didn't overpay

Agreed, most do throughout the season/career. However it's worth pointing out that aside from ROR first 30-35 games here, last season, his production, especially goal scoring hasn't been great.

The team's not that far off.

Biggest issue IMO is the Defense. You can't win big with our current D-Men.

Kuli - 8
Bogo -13

Not good...

- mattsox

Well, it was much closer than that before the game...Bogo went on a mission to create separation....guy was steadfast in his determination!

We probably did a little. Which is fine, but when he's slumping like this, then it is brought up.

He's still really good. Not like I don't want him on line 2 for the next 5 years

You have a point for sure, Im certainly not excusing his poor play, just saying it could definitely be worse see Ville Leino

But if ROR puts up 60-70 points a year 20-25 goals and can be dominant in the faceoff circle and the PK hes earned his money IMO.

That said could definitely use some more consistent play from 91, although I suppose that could be said for the majority of the roster.

I had the show on in my office and heard the same thing. I almost spilled my coffee. Rivet said it.

As far as a "200 ft game" I agree with their assessment. He is atrocious in the d-zone and that's if he even attempts to go across the blue line. Either he is not being used properly, doesn't have a clue what he is doing, or is not as good as everyone thinks he is. At this rate, I find it hard to believe he will be a consistent 30 goal scorer in this league. This is why when people argue that he should be used on the PK I wonder if I am watching the same game as everyone else.

He does have an amazing shot though. That's for sure.

I don't think he's necessarily playing poorly, just not up to snuff on the score sheet lately.

He will probably have a 3 point night soon

Well unless ppl want him traded...
or wanna say we shouldn't have made the trade to begin with...
then all this talk about him seems pointless to me

O'Reilly is what he is
20 something goals
60 something points
Faceoffs, solid defenseively, all around good player

If ppl expect him to score 30goals & put up 80pts...
I just don't see it happening
And idk why they should expect that?
