Right or wrong. Will be very interesting to see what Hextall does.

My guess is nothing.

History dictates it'll be minor.

Stempniak got off Scott free. No supplemental.

Gudas said they couldn't go after him due to numbers. A Mac in quiet room and him in box is a no no. I agree with him. You can't lose 2 d men for who knows how long.

I guess you just want to kill 4 defenseman and have Gudas sit for 17 minutes?

If A Mac can't return you've killed the other defenseman when Gudas does that role.

Teams now let the league office handle it. Points in the standings are too important. Too bad sometimes they get it wrong. Funny thing is I just heard Millbury say they better start officiating better on the ice and of the ice or they are going to have players enforcing it again which the league doesn't want.

I think the stars would have to align for you to move into the top 10 for two seconds. Unless there wasn't a single player that a team liked, that would be cheap.

But is this the year to even think about moving up when lots of experts say its a medicore draft. I actually think with a average to below average draft, using the 1st rounder to try and get a youg player might be better route.

I didnt want to see the Flyers jump him and take an extra penalty but I would like to see them react with clean physical play.

Im not so much worried about where this team is with the players. I know that G and Coots will never be a 1/2 C cup winner so that search needs to be on in the form of a draft pick or a young D for young C trade in the future.

What's starting to worry me is Hakstol and some of his decisions along with his command of the room. It was brought up before earlier in the thread but Streit's quote really stuck out how they have to be "more mature" Just an interesting choice of words when your talking about a team that has many veteran players.

That's totally a different matter. They seem to have lost that part of the game even without a cheap shot against them. Sooner or later they'll need to rediscover that edge or this season will end a lot sooner than they want it to.

You don't just move up because it's a good or bad draft. You don't move up for the sake of getting an unspecific top 10 pick. You move up to target a specific player(s). I know there's 1 or 2 I'd consider it in this draft, no matter what the overall class looks like. It's not a great draft for winning the lottery and it drops off pretty quick, but there's still some really fine players near the top.

And that logic works the other way in that a 1st rounder this draft might not carry the same weight in acquiring a young player. And it's not like you'd acquire any star young player with a mid 1st in an average class. A pick always costs less than a top young prospect/player.

With all the UFA's on the roster: 2 Goalies, 3 D men and 2 Forwards, I would hope that we'll be sellers at the TD. I'm hoping that the uncertainty of the exp. draft will make trading for a UFA more desirable than normal. What do you think we could get for each? (assuming picks only...)

Neuvirth -

DZ -

Streit -
