The roles these players currently fill for us are not within their abilities.
Schenn would be far more productive on a team that doesn't lean on him the way our expectations of him do.
Coots is suffering offensively because our team lacks the depth needed for him to really (frank)ing shine as a 3rd line center/shut down center etc etc. - FlyersNapTime
So who fills Couturier's role for us when he's gone? Schenn?
I am all for some change but you also need to look at the value for the Flyers.
Even if Couturier is just a 3rd line center, he is on a reasonable deal to build with. We have seen him with Konecny and Voracek and seen them play good hockey. Increase depth and you'll see more.
Also we already lack size down the middle so why would you want to move even more size out.
While you guys are dismantling this pathetic excuse for a team you might want to entertain yourselves by listening to "Confessions of a puck bunny" on the Puck Soup podcast.
Keep in mind that the guest was in studio and the podcast is recorded in and around NYC, North Jersey so she probably lives within driving distance (hint, hint).

Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves here. I'm merely proposing who needs to be moved and why. Replacing players is always easier than we as fans make it out to be.
We said the same crap with Richards, Carter, Forsberg, Pronger, Hartnell etc etc.

Read is done. He is no longer a NHL player at this point.
Read, Weise, Gordon and Schenn being moved/bought out etc etc would do wonders for this team. - FlyersNapTime
Regardless how you feel about his value to the team this season, he provides some value come the expansion draft. Read and Weise will fill the slots of the 2 forwards the Flyers need to leave unprotected so they don't have to expose any players with more value.

I'm not saying firesale. I'm saying the team should have or could possible trade some vets in order to secure young forward talent that could blossom around the same time as the young defensemen.
This would likely have resulted in the team taking a couple steps back and finishing within the bottom 10 for a few seasons. They wouldn't have been an embarrassment to the sport; they just would have been a regular bad team. - PhillySportsGuy
