Okay I can totally see how Maroon has benefited from being McDavids winger, but where are the numbers suggesting Draisaitl has been poopty?
Also I can't help but wonder why everyone is always giving McDavid all the credit. Don't get me wrong, I freely admit he is worth all the hype, but perhaps he is doing so well because those around him (Draisaitl in particular) make him better as well.
Connor does a lot of heavy lifting but I don't think he's doing it alone. - Wildschwein
You don't remember Drais pointless streak for what was it 6 games?
He scored 9 points at even strength the first 23 games. Most of his scoring even before being put on with Connor full time has been on the PP with Connor.
I'm not upset with this. He obviously is a great compliment to McDavid just as he was with Hall. But on his own he has never been able to carry a line. And the narrative that he has been great even without McDavid is false.
This is a one line team. Whoever is on with McDavid, then a bunch of poop.

That's right....keep that bar extra low bud... - The-O-G
If you want a low bar.... you can't get any lower than needing a M.A.Fleury and settling for a Brian Elliott. |

But this is a red herring. Cause while he only had 9 es points, he still had 8 more during that span as well. It just happened to be on the pp.
production is production. His totals shouldn't be marginalized because one is worth more than the other. They're not.
End of the day, what player isn't gonna be better with mcdavid ?
U could say the same about anyone. Essentially the debate is that the numbers mean less if Connor was on the ice?
Leon was on pace for 60 points without playing full time with Connor. At 21 years old.
Impressive to say the least.
I think it still hinges on hall for you.
That u think we're a bad team without Connor. But if we had hall, we'd at least be adequate.
But the evidence in the past doesn't support this brah.
Not only that, but we had a stretch last season with Connor and hall. Even with talbot playing well. They were brutal
End of the day, I certainly won't argue that Connor is by far our best player and we'd be far worse without him |

Has nothing to do with Hall. I like Drai.
But as you say he was on pace for 60 points without being on full time with McDavid, yet half of those points came in the PP with McDavid.
We've seen Nuge produce when on with McDavid for short stints too. But it's Nuge that is left to carry a heavier load and harder minutes with lesser linemates while Drai gets easier time with McDavid. All I'm saying is switch the two and I think you'd see Their numbers switch too. |

Anyone have a guess as to what Drai gets for a contract? |

Definitely north of $6mil/yr -
I bet McDavid and Drai come in around $18mil/yr. |

What gets me is that, while 9 EV points in 23 games (0.39/game) isn't McDavid-level or Hall-level, that still represents the production of an effective top-6 line in the NHL. A list of players scoring at a comparable rate at evens includes Henrik Sedin, Stastny, Henrique, Simmonds, Backlund, Jagr, Steen, Hoffman, Wennberg, Johansen, etc. I dare anyone to make an argument against those players being legit top-6 players in the NHL.
For Draisaitl at age 21, those are impressive numbers that are VERY worth commending him for. Sure, maybe he's not "driving" a line (though I question exactly what that means), but he is a strong and effective option at C when separated from McDavid.
EDIT: In hindsight, this is more in response to a post you made earlier than it is to the one I quoted. Apologies if that causes any confusion. |

I thought the NHL said they were strictly not allowing this...yet now they are. Weird.
Golden Knights GM George McPhee will be permitted to execute trades and transactions ahead of the March 1 trade deadline, so long as owner Bill Foley satisfies the requirements to officially make Las Vegas as home of the NHL’s 31st franchise in the days prior. |

I'm thinking 6.5 for 6. Or rather I'm hoping it. |

4.5mil for 3 years to kill time until Nuge, Eberle and Pouliot are off the books and maximize the team's cap space during a primary time to contend.
OR
6.3 for 8 years to get him locked long-term and not have to worry about renegotiating at a later date (for a likely higher cap hit). |

They probably want to give the franchise a greater chance at gauging what will be available while also giving them a possible running start to ensure they don't stumble out of the gate. It also may help them acquire some prospects or picks for the upcoming draft. |

Just so I'm clear, I forgot to add the 'OR' as I imagine he'd earn more than 6.3 long term given 3 extra years in the former scenario. At that point, I imagine we'd be looking at somewhere between 7.3 to 8 million. |

I really wish we could limit him to less than 7 mill. Probably an unrealistic hope. |

My bad
I thought u were slagging Leon's total and I was like wtf ??
Not sure I agree that nuge has the offensive chops Leon does at this point.
But there's no debating he gets tougher minutes |

That was what I was talking about a couple of weeks ago.
From what I remember these trades and such may even considered as their selection from the team they do a transaction with. |
