He needs a new contract after this season. He's not gonna sign a 1 year deal just to get to ufa. He's gonna sign a 5-6 year deal to get paid.
- j.boyd919

Who knows depends on our offer. He would take a discount to get ink to paper and the money guaranteed. But if you offers 5 years 22.5 he's going to turn that down; take a one year 4.5 deal and then hope he gets a huge 7 year 45 deal or something in that neighborhood. The math favors going to UFA if we low ball. My guess he would accept a 6 year 33 deal. Just to lock in that much money. When killorn is getting 31 in his 1 year to UFA deal that gives you a good idea of the low side of a Tatar deal

Fwiw I'm not anti this talk. I just don't do the deal without a long term contract in place. Giving up multiple assets including a 1st for a guy here for one year is too much.

He was brutal in that shift.

He is starting to develop that Brooks look to the sky thing after the other team scores

When they watch tape of that shift, he should go hide. It was ugly

Serious Question:

Does or did MAF have to provide the teams he refuses to be traded to when he signed his contract or is this something that GMJR has to approach him/his agent with when he's actively pursuing a trade?

I think every player with a clause in his contract provides it at the beginning of each season.

I've been saying Dallas since the summer with us taking back Niemi and a prospect. Maybe a little of Niemi's contract retained.

Agree. Here are my trades. Remember aim high and let them counter

Dal: Fleury for neimi, prospect or pick, and rights to nish
Cal: Fleury and DP or maatta for Hamilton, pick, prospect
Col: Fleury, 1st, maatta and prospect (not named Simon sprong sunds) for Landeskog and Barrie
Stl: Fleury, maatta for shattenkirk and fabbri, then try to get a backup goalie for a pick from someone

Remember these are aim high and just starting points...

Murray would've stopped that.

I wouldn't protect Simon at all right now. We got a plethora of young talent that is developing faster than he is at this point.

Oh good to know. Has he been injured? I thought he did really well at end of last season and beginning of the season?

Also, messing around on capfriendly here at work and I notice almost every pens armchair gm has us trading for tartar... did I miss a rumor or something... why are so many people looking to get him?

Rutherford will pull the trigger on that deal as fast as he can pull his flip-phone out of his pocket.

I hear he is still using Windows 98 and Dial-up Internet

He's just really dropped off this season surprisingly. I think last time I checked he's on pace for 12 goals this season? I'm not saying to write him off by any means, but if a team was interested I'd move him over guenztel, Sprong, Blueger etc. He can still pick it up but it's def an odd year for him.

He upgraded to ISDN after the cup win. Splurged and bought some bright white New Balance walkers too.

Nice win. Loved it all but Daley's goal was fun as heck. Murray was solid.

It has to be standardized once a year. If it was whenever GMGr asks then fleury could just put whoever he thinks the gm is talking to at that time on his no trade lists.

This isn't how you trade fleury. Too complicated. Just involve picks as the return and whatever you need to match up salary wise or retain on fleury. Goalies are isolated assets they are almost always traded for picks (or a throw in/ futures) rather than in player for player trades.

After dealing fleury then you can talk to those teams and see if their interested in dealing their stars.

Only players coming back for fleury would be Dallas where they would want to dump some goalie salary back on us.

Their metrics are pretty similar, but I think Tatar is better defensively.
- j.boyd919

He may be, but Sheary has one ability that I'm not sure Tatar has. Which is the ability to play with Crosby. And as the years have shown there have been few people that can do it...Kunitz, dupuis and now Sheary. Hornquist, maybe, but I think hes is just as effective playing on anyone elses line, and I don't think he really compliments Crosby like the other 3.
