Possibly ,but he might want 12 mil instead - VANTEL
True ...hard to say ...he has been on a bad team for so long ...but he also took a pay cut to help them be more competitive
Comes down to what's more important to him I guess |

I was thinking no way until I saw the top 5 in 2010 have all been dealt. As to your second point, I think its BPA when you draft top5 for the most part but teams will reach sometimes at around 4 or 5 in a way you would with top3 IMO. Most of the guys in the 2010 one were part of very significant trades. - neem55
Yeah I agree ...there's usually a top 1/2/3 that everyone projects and then it kinda goes depending on the team |

Interesting. I don't think Guddy will go on LTIR though, seems liek they would have done that by now no? - neem55
Some.teams are only doing it when they no that they will end up over the cap. Leafs have players that can go on LTIR but have not been placed there yet. Also I believe Detroit put someone on there that had been out for awhile before being placed.
Then you have mtl who placed descharnais on LTIR and is already coming back. All about maximizing the cap situation I guess. |

I doubt Canucks get in on the JT sweeps . The only way they could entice him is with the highest bid.

Hmm interesting. I like the idea of a trade with Chicago, not sure I see us as having a guy they'd really want. Dallas I could see, but their core is so young I'm not sure they move much beyond trying to land a goalie, I'd imagine Nill will go after Bishop hard. Washington I'm honestly not sure needs much, they look unreal right now.
This close to a playoff spot, we will have to lose some games after the break to motivate FA to allow trades IMO. |

I think with a little puck luck, we could be a .500 team for the remainder of the season. 10% chance that gets us into playoffs. - Retinalz
I think the playoffs is 50/50. But there's only a 10% chance of that.

Nighthawk, in response to your post that you took down:
Actually, stats can tell you the most about past drafts, much more than current players ability or anything else theyre trying to measure. for example, how many players have played more than 100 NHL games that were drafted in 2010? 11
how many in the third round? 3
and so on. then you can do that for three or four drafts and then it is very clear that many, many more players are picked in the second that become NHL players than in the round after, in fact there is a huge dropoff after the second round where we see more variation. I'm not sure what you thought I meant by stats, so just to be clear.

I'm not arguing the stats just who is picked by whom & when.
Overall stats don't tell the true story. |

Am I the only 1 that sees a perfect deal with DAL shaping up?
Miller and Hansen for Niemi, Hemsky a high pick (1st or 2nd rd), and the rights to Nichushkin...I know Nichushkin has attitude issues but give him a year or 2 he may come around. Showed flashes in DAL.
DAL gets a more reliable goalie for a playoff run, and a much more effective point getter at this stage of his career and more speed to keep up with Benn and Seguin. Their window is about to slam shut on them so it's now or never...
We take salary for a year (Niemi) and get another high pick (that hopefully Benning won't waste) and a potential power forward who can pop in 20 - 25 goals. After next year Demko will probably be close to ready anyways, so Markstrom/Niemi tandem for 1 year... - c_roy33

Right because the Leafs will trade two of them to beat them out. Playoffs you know. It's all in "The Plan". |

Top of the morning in Trump's America. Best way to move on is looking away and into the intrigue of Canuck game week. The do or die month. What chaos looms? It will be a doozy of a ride.
Is there a new all star gear to be seen from Bo? Maybe JB can upgrade his RW linemate. Is there a young 20 year old speedster with scoring potential looking for a break to crack an NHL line up out there? |

He's not making free agency one way or another he's getting signed this summer. By Isles or by team they trade him too.
Isles have inside track with ownership trying to build new stadium in Queens. Better for their fan base to get to as well. Brooklyn is wrong in so many ways. The former owner only went there as a FU to Nassau for voting down new stadium so many times.
Either way Isles don't want a rebuild and are willing to trade future for vets now to get JT to stay. If JB is willing to part with vets like Hansen and Tanev the return could be quite good.

Gretzky sucked as a coach and imo is one of the reasons that franchise has been so screwed... he wasted so many years of that team and destroyed young talent... |

February will decide prolly many bubble teams fate.
As for a 20yr old speedster go check teams prospects & find one.
Also it doesn't matter what they want its what a team decides to do with them. |

JT holds all the cards & what he wants he will get.
His loyalty reminds me of Sundin on the Leafs.
Idk if NYI can get him what he needs the way they r going. |
