I doubt most on here would like that but it's not the worst idea ...having 4 good D men in a top 4 is an Interesting concept

But I'm one who believes you have to protect guys like Brouwer who you just signed ..it looks bad to future free agents if you pull stuff like that ...much like the idea many fans get of sending guys with NTC to the AHL to force them to waive their NTC

Varly has another year at 6 mill ...so it's not a straight swap ...your giving avs cap relief next year

I was just thinking that when I compared the cap hits. I think I'd be good with getting Varly at 4 mill per year (it's probably going to cost at least that to resign Elliott next year even with him having a down year).

Kind of a moot point anyway. I am in agreement that I'd rather spend the assets on a natural RW of Landeskog's ilk.

If somehow we end up with varly for next year I wouldn't be too concerned ..not at the top of my list but not signed long term ...I just wouldn't give up much at all to get him

Colorado is the disaster. I think Varly is a decent goalie on a bad team.

My proposal was more along the lines of: What if Colorado were to give up one of their big trading chips if it meant they were able to shed salary and move forward with Pickard as their starter. Landeskog was the prize, not Varlamov.

I also ended it by saying that it was just an idea and that I'd probably be happy if we just stayed the course and re-evaluated during the off season.

Looking at up coming UFA's there's a few RW and D That I would either want or at very least have some interest in

Oshie
Radulov

Half of those will re-sign with their respective teams but adding even one of those would be ok with me
