I finally watched Concussion last night. Quite possible the most depressing movie I've ever watched. It's pretty horrifying when they portray what these guys, their families, and friends went through. I don't know if I'd ever want my kid playing football.

Is it just bad luck that there's no other regular Flyers player in the past three seasons with a worse ratio of 5 on 5 goals scored/conceded by the team when they are on the ice?

He must have broken every mirror in North Dakota to have 200+ games of bad luck.

And surprisingly, his +/- indicates that this is the case as well.

Also, I'd say that Simmonds' line's numbers are not every good, as the other players on the ice have to account for these chances (and for his +/-, as well).

Also would like to point out Schenn and Simmonds are all over the place in terms of lines. Schenn is being bounced from 1st line LW to 2nd line LW to 3rd line C and Simmonds has been bounced around the top 2 lines. The fact the coach needs to juggle the lines this much to spark the offense shows how poor offensively this team truly is.

Agreed, no Stanley Cup contender like Pittsburgh would ever constantly juggle their top 2 lines and move players all over the lineup.

No one has a worse +/- 5v5 than VandeVelde over his tenure here. No one allows more goals when on the ice than Mr. Reliable.

Since +/- is a valuable tool, how would we evaluate that, sir?
