From what I remember that spot on the top of the cage wasnt actually supposed to go through the cage so he took the bump sort of unexpectedly. Just brutal to watch.

What's crazy to me is if you think of the most insane bumps in the WWE over the past 10-15 years you could legit give them all to Shane McMahon who isnt a wrestler..

The cage was supposed to sag (the designer intentionally removed some of the clips) but wasn't supposed to give way. He kind of got thrown with the choke slam, not driven straight down, which he said is why he didn't die.

These guys are obviously all actors, and the matches are pre-determined, but no one can say they don't take risks. Just look at Owen Hart (given, it was in a stunt, not a match) or, to a lesser degree, Sid Vicious in a "standard" match.

yup, he's another maniac for sure. Honestly, the sickest thing I ever saw in the WWF/E (well other than watching DX actually shove Vince's face up the Big Show's ass), was the I Quit match with The Rock and Foley. Foley, with his hands cuffed behind his back, takes about 20 chair shots directly to his head and the Rock didn't seem to pulling his swings at all. It was so disturbing that Foley's wife and kids had to leave their seats during the match, it was just too hard to watch.

I never got into wrestling...quite honestly, I think it is staged

I liked the guys from the 80s, Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior (all 6 of them), and Hulk Hogan up until the Razor Ramone-type era. It was always hoket, over-the-top, and staged, but it was amusing. Sometime around the Stone Cold era, it just became 80% poop talking in the ring and other out of the ring shenanigans and I stopped caring.

They absolutely take risks and some of those "stunts" legimately hurt like hell. Look how many guys have had to retire over the last decade or so due to neck/back issues.

Agreed 100% ..Anyone above the age of 15 knows that Pro wrestling is fake but that doesnt in anyway take away from the physical toll they put themselves through. You could make the argument that being a pro wrestler in the WWE with their Monday night shows, almost nightly house shows and PPV takes more of a physical toll on the human body then playing a professional sport does.

Ugh...the Sid Vicious leg break is brutal to watch.

Thank goodness for top-25 NCAA basketball. Without it there'd be no good sports to watch this weekend.

yup, there have been quite a few legit botched spots that led to injuries that just made me cringe:

Obviously Foley going through the cage
Owen Hart not properly securing Austin before piledriving him and breaking his neck
And pretty much anything that Jeff Hardy did in any tables, ladders and chairs match

That was another sequence that was just hard to watch but it was from a different era in the WWE and would never go over now.

Sure they pull their shots but like you said it literally didnt look like the Rock was holding anything back.

I liked Hogan because that was my childhood. No matter what, he will always be the greatest wrestler of all time, and I think that all WWF (it's WWF!) wrestler today can thank him.

As for NWO and DX, it was always too silly for me.

I enjoyed Stone Cold, The Rock, and Sting growing up but it was short lived. Got more into UFC and currently still love that

My Uncle was a huge fan and used to take me to matches at the Spectrum and the old Philly Civic center when I was a kid in the early to mid 70s. I was big fan of Superstar Billy Graham back then, he may have been a heel, but he just seemed so cool.

I kinda lost interest moving into the mid 80s, it just got too cartoonish and silly, though I'd occasionally watch the NWA back then. It was more wrestling oriented and I always enjoyed watching Flair and the Horsemen. By the early 90s, I had kind of lost interest again, but I got back into it after watching Wrestlemania 13 in 97, the Hart vs Austin match was fantastic. Since then, I watch it off and on and I do subscribe to the WWE network. Heck for $10 a month you get a every payperview and all the old school stuff in their vault so it's well worth it.

If by greatest wrestler of all time you mean who could sell the most tickets and merchandise then yeah, Hogan's the man. When it comes to ring psychology and actually working a match, I'd much rather watch guys like Flair, Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerrero, and Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig. Those guys were masters of their craft.

Since then, I watch it off and on and I do subscribe to the WWE network. Heck for $10 a month you get a every payperview and all the old school stuff in their vault so it's well worth it.

Same here..The $9.99 (stupid promos)just for PPV access alone makes it worth it.
When you factor in you can watch ECW, WCW and a million other things its beyond worth it.

Got to disagree there...Hogan was just the right thing at the right time..He wasnt a stellar worker..wasnt great on the mic..was just there when needed. Sort of a blonder version of Cena..though Cena has put in some great matches actually over the past 2 years.

I can think of at least 10 wrestlers that were greater then he was in my opinion.

There have been many instances also where either someone got pissed at another wrestler and starting hitting for real, or one was just a knuckle head and went berserk.

Kind of an interesting thing to think about. Next year the flyers could possibly have 3 or more rookies on the team. Lindblom might not start the season with the team, but I'd expect him to be up at some point. As well as two of Hagg, Sanheim, and Morin.

They are going to be a really young team next year.
