Bob Cole on CBC if u looked away & listened u heard Leafs names or Philly dumps the puck in. The guy is a great announcer & homer wrapped into 1. No wonder u miss him. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

"Holy Cow, The New York player had a whole bunch of speed on that one"
"the puck clears the ice and out comes the goalie to make the pass"

Bob Cole... Great Voice... Could not for the life of him remember player names or match numbers to names to save his life.

I didn't want him either...I just didn't get the concern over him. Benning is definitely not a "meat and Potatoes" drafter. I suppose this idea all stemmed from his first 7th round pick in Mackenzie
- CanuckDon

Yup, I'm pretty sure his biggest requirement is that they can "rip the puck"

They have to provide other sports coverage, even TOR audience wouldn't want to watch an entire hour of Maple leaf coverage.
- Codes1087

I usually watch hockey central @ noon over Leafs lunch.. so yeah..

They just run out of things to talk about with the Leafs.. and they are always wrong anyways..

Then why we all force fed inferior hockey on the CBC?
Best thing to happen to hockey nationwide was no more Saturday CBC 4pm PST Leafs. No other other league does not features dawgs in perpetuity.

- Nighthawk

They don't show Leafs games out there anymore on HNIC?

strange.. who the (frank) wants to watch the Sens/Habs?

Bang on & he did intentionally. Unprofessional.
Nothing tops Foster Hewitt with his Anglophone bias though.

Agreed. Having Healy, Hughson and Simpson doing the Leafs game was a crazy decision. At least Healy is gone now.

Advertising money and the fact that HNIC is now a drone for Sportsnet.

No. It's because Benning & Willie hate him.

Edit: I heard Subban was denied entry into a local Walmart and had to go home to get more stuff.

Etem had a fair bit more value when this trade happened. Perron actually had value as well.
- Retinalz

Etem definitely had more value than when VAN acquired him, but was also paired with the higher pick to make the deal work. Still could be considered a B level prospect at the time

Perron did not (nor Hagelin at that time) have that much value, both were under performing and it was seen as a move to give the Ducks more financial flexibility as Perron's contract was expiring.

Either way, my point was more that the expectations on a Hansen return should be tempered, it wont add up to his actual worth as the comparables are out there much lower than what we would want

Don can be a real hater sometimes. Subban should try again when a different greeter is on shift.

I think it was Virtanen over Ehlers/Nylander that really started the commotion.

Well if we trade for picks so be it but I'm not a big believer a 2nd is all that big a deal. Its all about who is picked not where. Tree being our latest example. Unearthing gems has made a big difference for many teams eg Zetterberg.

I wanted Ehlers at the time but in the longterm i think JV will work out fine.
When McCann was moved too many ppl made too much of it.
We lacked toughness & need leadership going forward.

Given JB's drafting, or need to toss a 2nd into every trade, this would be good asset management

So Hansen + a 2nd rounder for a 2nd rounder?

I think Return of the King won all those awards out of recognition of the whole trilogy

I liked the first two more than the third, it just seemed like the third was ticking off too many boxes - hollywood/disney.

Don't forget that an early 2nd is a 1st and a late 2nd is a 3rd so in reality it would be Hansen and a 1st for a 3rd.
