Yup, it will all come down to the length of a deal and the $$$ as always, but he really would be a nice fit. With Lindblom coming over, and without knowing who they lose in the expansion draft, signing Berglund could give them a top 9 of:

Raffl-G-Jake
TK-Coots-Simmonds or Schenn
Lindblom-Berglund-Schenn or Simmonds

That would be a nice upgrade over what they are putting out there now.

Is it too early to worry about that or would you get out in front of it? I almost think it would be wise to move either Schenn or Giroux or maybe cash in high on Simmonds. A playoff team would pay huge I think for him at the deal he is on and for what he brings right now.

I understand a lot can change. Maybe they can move MacDonald. Maybe it is not a worry.

I'm not too concerned about their future cap situation. Between Streit, MDZ and Schultz, over 11 million is coming off after this season and Matt Read's 3.625 after 17-18. Plus by the end of 17-18, Raffl will be going into his last season and you could likely trade all or part of his 2.35 million and AMac will only have 2 years left at that point, so he could likely be traded with salary retained as well.

The good news is that the following guys will all have relatively low cap hits for the next couple of seasons: Provorov, Konecny and Sanheim, none will need a new deal til 18-19 and Lindblom will only be in his first year in 17-18 as well.

I think Hexy is well on his way to getting their cap situation in the best spot it's been since the cap started.
