Sons of Penn has been doing a great job of keeping tabs on all Flyer related news, including great up to date coverage on the prospects. Basically everyone in Lehigh is crushing it (they killed the baby sens tonight 7/2), Lindblom is lighting up the Shl and Rubstov finally showed up in the CHL and had a great first weekend (four points).

They do a good job for sure. Plus, I enjoy the fun and humor/personality they put into their articles or news pieces. Theyre pretty reliable for following the game on twitter too when you can't catch it on tv or radio.

Mason was great. Especially in the first period. Could have easily been 3-0, and game over. Good to see him playing well. Wish he would get some help in front of him.

Well the whole team "owes him a game" he won that one last night. The Flyers must get off to a quick start against this Leaf team. The Flyers have only scored first 16 times this year. The Leafs are 15-1-5 when leading after the first period. It would just be nice to see solid contributions from all 4 lines. That's what will be needed tonight.

Does keeping one of the best offenses in the league to 7 shots in the third while scoring 2 goals count as help?

For sure. Big game tonight. Both teams coming off shutout wins last night. Leafs speed and skill is scary. One of those 4 point games in the standings.

If Mason doesn't stand on his head in the first period the game is over. What did he face 3 odd man rushes in the first period?

Tonight they play one of the hottest offences in the NHL. I hate the fact the Leafs are looking very good but their forwards are playing much better hockey right now than the Flyers ... Not even close

Yup but to dismiss the fact that the Flyers played a great 3rd period in outshooting and outscoring the Rangers on the road doesnt make sense.

Great to get a win.

Great to see them hang in there when getting outplayed for a lot of the beginning of the game.

Mason was awesome but we have seen this before where a great game is followed by a subpar game. I hope he has a another strong outing going into the all star break. This team needs to string together some wins and play some good hockey.

I'm very interested to see how they come out tonight against a speedy, talented young Leafs team. They don't have the luxury to have a letdown and they will need to get off to a much better start than they did last night in order to come away with 2 points.

I saw little to no improvement. Lot of puck luck and great play by mason
- Just5

You can't deny that their play improved in the 3rd period. However, they were god awful in the first and mediocre in the 2nd and unless that changes they will lose more games than they win.

I think it was Millbury who said last night you put Mase back in and make him prove it's his net. He's had 2 good games in a row. If he wants to be the number 1 this season and the future now is the time for him to take it and refuse to let it go.

Man I hate agreeing with Millbury but he was very positive in his commentary about Mase last night.

No doubt. There was acres of clean white ice for the Rangers to skate through unimpeded in the first period.

If that happens tonight it will not turn out so well. The Leafs have been excellent out of the gate, while the Flyers have been terrible. It's gotta change

He's got a point. I would definitely play him again. And he really needs to string some strong games together not just for the rest of this season but also if he wants to stay here long term.

Up to this point of the season I don't think any goalie has shown anything that would make me offer them a new contract.

Mason was great.
In general, overall, the team was okay, but that's an average of the really bad first period and a good third period.
Good thing #53 is young and fast as he needs to be to recover from his errors.

53 or 3 makes that pinch they made last night (the one they highlighted Ghost making during first intermission) and we'll probably see a goal against.

I would def come back to him. If he keeps this roll up, then allow him to play except for back to backs. Last year, he really got on a roll down the stretch and was a huge factor getting us into the playoffs. I'd really like to see them go on another good tear to solidify a spot so that you could rotate the two tenders a bit and so Mase doesn't get burned out.

I hope Ghost recovers some of that confidence he had last season. One play in particular stood out to me in the third when a pass back to the point bounced on him and went out to the neutral zone. He was able to regain control of the puck pretty quickly with a Ranger coming on him....but he had time.

Last years Ghost would have skated it out of trouble or made a move of some kind. Instead he made kind of a panicky pass to no one off the boards at the blue line. Thankfully it didn't hurt them and, had he gotten a bit more on the puck it would have been the "safe" play, but thankfully a team mate was able to break up the Ranger who would have been able to skate the other way with speed.

He looks like a player afraid to make a mistake for fear he will be benched or scratched, and its hurting his game.

As I said yesterday, once he gets a better support support system around him, hopefully Hack lets him loose again. His creativity and boldness are what make him the player he is.

what was he scratched once or twice this year out of 45 games? Stop with that excuse, truth is he over achieved last year and is under achieving this year. Confidence is an issue but the kid has to take a look in the mirror and pick up his game
