Tyler for Sami and pick or perhaps ST or Brandon - but would need some of kind of expectation of being able to resign TJ before pulling the trigger - If Bolts would even entertain this - Sami @ 4x4 - RHD with def 2nd pair ability - |

Great thoughts. Which player are you taking from the Lightning, in the expansion draft, Mr Vegas blogger? |

They'll have a couple nice players exposed. Vegas will be picking Drouin or Namestnikov |

Who replaces his 55 points? (55 points is his 82 game pace based on his career numbers) - Feds91Stammer
Well I remove the outlier year, hasn't come close to that again so seems as though that is not him as a player. 49 points per 82 games is what we lose. Who can replace that? Maybe we don't have one guy who can replace it but put it on the team to replace those. Everyone is still on Drouins nuts so how about he throws up 60-70 points in a season and then a few other guys chip in with 5-10 more points.

So nobody replaces his production. Thanks for making my point. |

HUH? You want more exact. Drouin puts up 15 more points. Stamkos puts up 10 more points, Kucherov puts up 5 more points, Palat puts up 5 more points, Namestnikov puts up 5 more points, third line guys combine for 10 more points. That better? |

My thought is this... I do not see the Lightning being able to re-sign due to the cap troubles they already have. Of the three RFA's (Drouin, Palat, and Johnson), he is the one I feel the team would be most comfortable letting go. For this reason, they need to see what they can get on the trade market for Tyler Johnson. The Bolts cannot ignore their need for improvements on defense anymore and putting Johnson in a deal could help them in filling the void on the blueline.

This is where Ron Francis and his outrageous amount of Cap space comes along to solve your salary problems for a fee.
Or, alternatively, offer sheet you into oblivion. |

This is who I think will not be Bolts next year in my opinion:
Bishop - traded at the deadline for a decent haul even though he is a UFA or before the expansion draft for something as little as a 3rd or 4th round pick for negotiating rights
Boyle - traded at the deadline for an over payment, people love him and want him to stay but I don't think his production will warrant the raise he going to get, I think his numbers are skewed this year due to high shooting percentage (playing the Andreychuck position on the powerplay as well as with Drouin and Fil)
Garrison - someone might trade for him because his actual salary next year is only 2.5M even though he carries a 4.6M cap hit. If not they buy him out.
Filppula - I really think the Bolts can move Val, he is worth the rest of his contract this year and the 5M next year he is paid in my opinion due being a veteran C/W 18-20M minute cruncher who is sound defensively who can be someones 2C - Tampa Bay Times keeps mentioning Filppula with the Blues could it happen?
Johnson - of the RFAs he is the one who is most expendable. But then if they lost Filppula as well is he really expendable? with Filppula gone they can probably keep Johnson.
We are stuck with Cally and that contract and Coburn who is not as bad as people make him out to be. |
